Forensic Scientist IIAs required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen, lawful resident alien, citizen of American Samoa or other territory owning permanent allegiance to the United States.As a versatile DNA Analyst, responsibilities include conducting investigative studies on biological materials through DNA typing technologies, supporting routine casework and special projects. Testifying as an expert witness, providing technical assistance in bioinformatics and information technology, and supporting DNA Registry logistical activities. Additional duties involve expanding technical programs, setting up laboratory instruments, writing protocols, and maintaining quality assurance. The role also includes investigative studies on tissue identification, managing novel marker/assay studies, and contributing to extensive DNA databases. Presentation of scientific findings at conferences and participation in educational activities further enhance the role's multifaceted contributions.Compensation & Benefits:Pay commensurate with experience.Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided.Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.Forensic Scientist II Responsibilities Include:Conduct DNA typing casework on biological materials in support of routine casework and special projects.Assist in program maintenance and development under the direction of the supervisor.Testify as an expert witness as required, presenting findings in legal proceedings.Provide technical assistance in bioinformatics, information technology, and laboratory automation.Support logistical and resource management activities of the DNA Registry.Organize and present educational activities, contributing to knowledge dissemination.Assist in expanding technical programs to accelerate service work capabilities.Set up and make operationally ready a variety of laboratory instruments and equipment.Write, review, and edit experimental protocols, standard operating procedures, and instructions.Assist in quality assurance activities, including standards maintenance, equipment preventive maintenance, reagent testing and validation, proficiency testing, and accreditation and certification processes.Perform general laboratory housekeeping activities, including maintaining working-stock levels of expendable supplies and ensuring a clean work environment.Conduct investigative studies on tissue identification using DNA typing technologies.Maintain documentation of methods development and research activities according to standard practice.Manage investigative studies on novel markers/assays to improve DNA recovery and typing from mixed and/or low template specimens.Participate in the establishment of extensive mtDNA, Y-STR, and Autosomal STR databases for general and specifically-targeted populations.Identify, investigate, and pursue projects to advance DNA-based biometric capabilities.Present scientific findings at domestic and/or international conferences, contributing to the scientific community.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.Forensic Scientist II Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:A master's degree in Forensic Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.Requires 2-5 years of relevant experience in forensic science.Advanced laboratory skills and proficiency in forensic analysis techniques.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex evidence examination.Excellent verbal and written communication skills for comprehensive case documentation and reporting.Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy in analysis and documentation.Advanced proficiency in using forensic analysis software and standard office applications.Strict adherence to ethical standards and maintaining the integrity of evidence.Ability to lead and coordinate a team of forensic scientists.In-depth understanding of legal procedures related to evidence collection and analysis.Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated on forensic science advancements.Ability to work independently, take initiative in complex case analysis, and provide expert testimony.Relevant certifications in forensic science or specialized areas.Increased independence in handling complex casework.Experience providing expert testimony in legal proceedings.May involve supervisory or team leadership responsibilities.Involvement in research projects or studies within the forensic science field.Specialized training in specific forensic disciplines.Experience in managing and overseeing forensic cases.Participation in quality assurance activities and adherence to accreditation standards.More extensive experience in courtroom procedures and testimony.Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including law enforcement and legal professionals.Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.Company Information:Cherokee Nation Integrated Health (CNIH)
