Job Description
Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer for the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets (VTCC), the Director of Alumni Relations for the Corps will serve as the chief alumni engagement officer for the VTCC. This position will be responsible for assisting the Chairperson of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets Alumni Board and Chairperson of the Highty-Tighties Alumni Board to carry out their missions in support of Corps alumni and the Corps. The Director of Alumni Relations will also provide additional support toward the institution’s overall alumni engagement and institutional advancement goals and objectives. The Director of Alumni Relations will be responsible for planning, executing, and assessing alumni engagement programs, projects, and events for the Corps. This position will work collaboratively with the members of the Corp’s advancement team to pursue and promote the overall institutional goals related to alumni engagement, communications, and fundraising.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree or Bachelor's with experience equating to an advanced degree
Experience in event planning, logistics, programming and engagement
Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated experience working independently and collaboratively with internal and external colleagues, adapting to changing priorities, and simultaneously managing multiple tasks.
Strong computer skills, which should include desktop software and databases.
Preferred Qualifications
Alumnus of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets
Prior military experience; recent active service
Experience with a senior military college, federal service academy, or ROTC
Experience developing strategies for planning events to enhance philanthropic support
Experience in higher education, independent school, or non-profit environments
Demonstrated experience cultivating, managing, training volunteers and developing volunteer leadership
Experience mentoring and working with college-age students
