You enjoy working with others, are results-driven, and seek various opportunities to develop personally and professionally.The RoleThe Senior Claims Manager, Liability, reporting to the Associate Vice President (AVP) of Global Claims, will be responsible for the strategic direction and performance of Hyatt’s liability claims team. This includes developing and implementing liability-focused programs that help Hyatt prevent and mitigate losses to reduce the total cost of risk. The Senior Claims Manager will be responsible for developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive improvement in overall claims outcomes. The senior manager will also partner with the AVP of Global Claims to support transformative initiatives to enhance the overall execution of the various claims teams. Specifically, the Senior Claims Manager – Liability will:Develop strategies to improve the management and resolution of domestic, US liability claimsSupport Hyatt’s overall claims process, including reporting and tracking claims, gathering relevant information, and managing claim negotiations and settlementsOversee and support adjustment and resolution of complex, litigated claimsAttend mediation and other claims-related events as neededEnsure compliance with policy reporting requirementsBuild a strong relationship with Hyatt’s third-party administrator (TPA) and other Hyatt claims stakeholdersAs leader of the overall liability team, manage, mentor, and guide team members, who support a variety of liability coveragesPartner with other Risk functionsSupport special initiatives and cross-functional projects, such as M&AParticipate in Hyatt’s Diversity & Inclusion activitiesExperience Required:10+ years of risk and insurance experience (with a minimum of 4-5 years handling claims – the balance of years can be in other risk and insurance functions)A minimum of 1-2 years of direct experience managing claims or other risk management professionals (with proven success developing and mentoring others)Direct experience managing litigated claims (preferably general liability claims)Demonstrated customer service experience/mindsetExperience identifying needs and driving projects/initiatives in support of risk or insurance functions (including stakeholder engagement)Requires knowledge of loss control methodology and reduction of incidentsExperience Preferred:Bachelor’s degree in risk, business, accounting, hospitality, or a related fieldAny professional certifications: CPCU, AIC, ARMExperience working with and evaluating law firm performance in defending claimsThe position responsibilities outlined above are in no way to be construed as all-encompassing.
