Quality Assurance?
S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our QA department. As a
Manager-Quality Assurance,
you’ll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. The Quality Assurance organization provides a variety of services aimed at helping our internal customers, which include S&C leaders and team members, deliver superior quality to our customers. Quality planning, inspection, audit, quality information, quality improvement consulting, and quality communications are examples of the kind of services the organization provides. The Manager – Quality Assurance will be working closely with Vice President of Global Quality. As Manager-Quality Assurance the team member will work within the Analytical Test Laboratory leading test method development and department strategy depending on business direction.Key Competency:Above average theoretical and working knowledge of material science engineering. An emphasis on chemistry is a strong plus. Analytical Services’ engineers and chemists are well versed in the hard science and often seek direction from the Lab Manager regarding test method development, the effect of an environment and external forces on a part at a molecular level, and more. Chemistry knowledge is important as there are hundreds of chemicals in the lab and understanding how and when these chemicals should be safety applied in testing is necessary. Without suitable background material science knowledge, team morale may diminish as they may feel they have no technical support structure in their department.A high amount of experience with materials processing is important. All parts at S&C require some degree of processing to make them ‘usable’, and understanding the affect these processes have on various materials is required for effective problem-solving coaching. Some examples of relevant process knowledge needed include injection molding, extrusion, compression molding, various casting/forming processes, plating, die punching, welding and more. Further, processing plays a critical role in material properties and ultimately how well they perform in S&C products; the Lab Manager should have enough knowledge to identify risks, abnormalities and/or provide insight to the Lab Team in their day-to-day projects.A solid background in SPC and general quality tools including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.An understanding laboratory instrumentation used in a materials characterization lab is also important. The data the machines produce varies, and each machine tells a different part of the molecular story. Understanding safety risks, the underlying theory, application and constraints of the instrumentation is crucial to advising engineers and chemists on test programs. Understanding instrumentation limits is also important when investigating replacement equipment or adding a new lab capability in order to best support engineering/production/etc at a reasonable dollar and time cost. What you’ll Need To Succeed:Required10+ years of overall quality experience, with at least five years in a leadership role.Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS), including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.Demonstrated experience in process analytics with a broad knowledge of quality tools and industry metrics.Ability to work with and advise direct reports in the lab to problem-solve complex issues and leverage data and learnings to drive continuous improvement.Great communication skills, (written, verbal, listening and presentation) able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels from senior executives to support staff. Creative and persuasive in communicating how interventions can improve current practices.Exceptional interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, including the flexibility to work extended hours when necessary.Great organizational, planning and project management skills, coordinating internal and external resources and juggling key account demands.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, paying strict attention to accountability and project goals.Demonstrate enthusiasm, drive, and a sense of urgency.Sound leadership skills with an ability to lead, guide, mentor and delegate to deliver results, build teams and capabilities, embrace change, drive decisions and results, embrace culture and inclusion and exhibit integrity.Great computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office applications; specifically, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and PowerBI.PreferredExperience in a large (2+ billion dollar revenue) B2B manufacturing companyCertified Quality Manager (CMQ) certification from ASQEnvironmental and Hazardous ConditionsOccasionallyworking indoors/outdoors in an air-conditioned/non-air-conditioned office/manufacturing/site-based environment.Infrequentlyexposure to fumes/vapors/dust/gases/odors/mist/toxic chemicals/radiation/vibration/grease/oils/radiation/lasers/other etc.Occasionallyexposed to low/moderate/high noise levels including machinery/vehicles/forklifts/office equipment/office traffic etc.Infrequentlyworking around energized equipment with the risk of electrocution/scalding/burns/other etc.Infrequentlyexposed to wet humid/outdoor weather/extreme cold (non-weather)/extreme heat (non-weather) conditions/other etc.Infrequentlyworking with machinery with moving parts/vehicles/forklifts/heavy machinery/sharp objects/other etc.Ready to make an impact and become an employee-owner?
