Job Summary
The Broker Recruitment Negotiations Lead is a key role reporting to the Markets, CFO and supporting the Americas Brokerage Operating Committee. This individual will work closely with the Americas Leadership Team to identify key strategic needs, match broker talent to these needs. Negotiate key deal terms with potential broker candidates, collaborating closely with Broker Lead/Business Line leaders to evaluate and secure top talent for JLL. The Broker Recruitment Negotiations Lead will possess a strategic mindset, excellent negotiating skills, experience working with Finance, HR and Legal teams to optimize outcomes, and strong interpersonal abilities to contribute to the success of our recruitment efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Continuously assess approach to recruiting and retaining brokers, recommending modifications as needed in conjunction with key partners (Business Leadership, Finance, HR, Legal)
Negotiate broker deal terms for new hires, including initial loan amount, guaranteed payments and loan forgiveness burn rate in the US and Canada within the agreed financial and business term parameters
Work with the Brokerage Operating Committee & Americas Markets CEO to anticipate broker retention needs and optimize outcomes in retention agreements
Responsible for broker deal term sheet inputs in collaboration with hiring leader
Sell the JLL Platform / value proposition, including the technology and infrastructure available to support brokers in streamlining their workflows, assessing market data and enabling sales
Develop and implement governance around the capital allocation for investment hires and retention deals, help leadership team assess trade-offs, guide decision-making
Develop and maintain relationships with key broker leaders and business line leadership to optimize outcomes across the broker cohort, and to ensure harmonized, effective approach to deal terms
Collaborate with Finance, HR and Legal teams to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations during the negotiation process and consistency with approved deal terms and final deal documents
Stay up to date on trends and best practices in recruitment and retention of brokers across our competitors to ensure we are proactive in the market
Responsible for measuring outcomes across the broker portfolio, and subsequently shaping approach to continuously optimize our broker portfolio and hitting annual recruitment targets (headcount, revenue, capital outflow).
Partner with the Finance team to report outcomes (an Executive Board level topic) on a regular basis
Skill set
Strong negotiating skills in a similar environment (broker based business or other type of partnership, e.g. law firm or accounting / consulting firm)
A commercially oriented mind-set, desire to get to ‘yes’ within a set of reasonable constraints
Intellectual rigor, ability to respectfully take positions and defend them
High EQ, remains calm in stressful / emotional contexts, playing the ‘long’ game
