Our fields of expertise span all areas of civil engineering and include an extensive variety of specialty disciplines,such as environmental compliance and restoration, coastal engineering, urban development, and mining.DESCRIPTIONMichael Baker International is seeking a motivated senior Project Manager with Hazard Mitigation Planning and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) experience to join our team. The successful candidate needs to be an experienced project manager and exceptional communicator who can oversee the management of a portfolio of projects executed by multi-disciplinary teams across various geographic locations. This position will be an integral member supporting contracts within planning and engineering for NY, NJ and the northeast region and may be asked to support other contracts (national) as needs arise. This position offers potential for development in a great working environment and the opportunity to apply the latest technology to help our clients solve their most challenging problems.RESPONSIBILITIESCoordinates activities of multi-disciplinary staff to ensure project delivery per schedule, on budget, and within scope parametersWorks with team members and clients to prepare scopes, schedules, budgets, assumptions, and constraints for projectsUpon approval of individual projects, provides oversight for the development of project plans for efficient and successful delivery across the full project lifecycleOversees adherence to project plans and established business processes, including quality and project management and standardsParticipate in client meetings and follow through on assigned action items directly with clients and communitiesProvides guidance to team members related successful delivery across the full project lifecycle, including developing forecasts and estimatesProactively strategizes and anticipates risks and issuesAccountable for completeness and accuracy of project status reports and invoicesCoordinate with other managers to balance workload and staffing needsPersonnel management including team building, staff mentorship and professional developmentConfers with team members to provide advice, counsel, and resolve problemsCultivate and manage client relationships and guide application of services to best serve the interests of the client and Michael BakerAccountable for compliance with contract requirements, including quality and security requirementsEngage other Subject Matter Experts and technical support staff as needed to support HMPs and other plansDevelop growth strategiesProvide flood risk management and mitigation recommendationsOther essential skills include creative problem-solving, organizational skills, financial project management skills, including earn value management, strong production management capabilities, and a proven understanding of project management methodologies. The ideal candidate will have an aptitude for leadership, a strong sense of ownership, and natural communication skills.PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTSMinimum of 10-15 years of experience in the coordination and management of non-IT projectsBachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Planning, Business, Communications, or related disciplineAbility to obtain a Public Trust Clearance, U.S. Citizenship preferred due to contract requirementsExcellent oral and written communication skills, proactive communicator and problem-solverStrong attention to detail and demonstrated ownership and accountability for workCapability to work in a dynamic environment, including a demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing prioritiesAbility to work collaboratively with a wide array of individuals from various backgrounds, including engineers; planners; GIS professionals; federal, tribal, and state government officials; and the publicStrong multi-tasking and organizational skillsAbility to manage scope, schedule, and budget requirements, working with multi-disciplinary teams under limited supervisionStrong track record of overseeing successful project delivery with a drive for quality product and financial excellenceDemonstrated supervisor and mentoring skillsMust be able to build rapport and establish positive relationships with existing and prospective Michael Baker International clients to ensure client-focused performanceIntermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and SharePointSolid work ethic and have the drive to be a leader in the company and in the professional communityPREFERREDCertified Floodplain Manager (CFM)Professional PlannerAICPExperience with the NFIP and FEMA’s Risk Mapping Assessment and Planning (MAP) ProgramAbility to travel periodically, as needed (less than 25%)Traditional and agile project management proficiencyIndustry involvement (e.g. Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM), Project Management Institute (PMI), etc.)COMPENSATIONThe approximate compensation range for this position is $150,000- $180,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
