Position Details DESCRIPTION: The Senior Director of Finance reports to the Executive Director of Finance and works directly with the Executive Director to develop, implement, manage, and maintain the financial operations of the district. This position is instrumental in relationship building with a number of building principals, directors, and operations of multiple third-party partners to create a collaborative and high functioning district. The Oak Park School District is looking for a Senior Director of Finance who is intrinsically motivated; who has a deep desire to grow professionally; who believes children deserve to learn in an environment that is the least restrictive with the highest level of cultural competence; possesses a strong work-ethic; who is committed to providing children with boundless opportunities; and who understands that initiative, rigor and grit are essential to educational leadership and the success of a director in the 21st Century.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, Master’s Degree preferred
Public school accounting experience preferred
Knowledge of accounting and budgeting principles; fund accounting; computer applications and computerized accounting systems; principles of management and supervision; investment planning and strategy
Experience in various accounting positions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and benefits
Demonstrated proficiency with SMART financial management systems, financial accounting software packages and personal computer Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide direct supervision of personnel assigned to payroll, benefits, accounts payable, cash receipts and other Business Office functions
Work with the Executive Director of Finance on budget development and long-range planning
Work directly with federal program directors to manage the financial aspects of the districts grants
Maintain the financial records of the district in compliance with school accounting manual (Bulletin 1022)
Prepare monthly financial statements for the school board
Manage the district’s property tax collections
Manage the process of the district’s participation in the school bond loan fund
Assist in preparing Medicaid quarterly reports
Manage the district’s SE-4094 and SE-4096 reports
Assist in preparing all bank reconciliations
Assist in managing the districts’ banking functions and prepare cash flow projections and applications for borrowing for cash flow purposes
Prepare for the district audit and work directly with the school district’s auditors
Prepare the FID
Manage the transparency reporting requirements
Develop day to day processes and procedures as needed
Abide by all applicable statutes, rules, regulations and policies
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Finance and Superintendent
