Primary Responsibilities:

Principal Architects partner closely with CTO organization leadership, Technical Architects, and Enterprise Architects on product delivery and technology selection

Review RFP documents to understand scope of work and customer needs to develop an overarching solution to be proposed as part of the solicitation response

Partner with the business and CTO organization to review and write solicitation responses

Develop technical approach and proposal plans, including scheduling of tasks, processes, and identifying critical resources, to turn the solution into a successful proposal

Develop and write technical responses for winning proposals (and possibly RFI) responses

Balance solution architecture/design against price-to-win scenarios, determining optimum solutions from both technology fit and overall cost

Provide recommendations to business unit senior leadership on capital technology investments and strategic technology roadmap

Guide the transition to future state architecture

Drive technology acceleration

Foster innovation to achieve business outcomes

Maintain the IT architecture and keep up with the latest technology trends to promote continuous technology improvement in line with business strategies

Serve as IT architect across the pursuit lifecycle and within an integrated growth team, including proposal, capture and business development activities

Defining and driving the technical direction of prospective business opportunity proposals, developing solutions architectures, and providing technical leadership for proposals and strategic pursuitsas well as creating content and contributing to the writing and assessments of proposals

Assess market level technology trends as well as capabilities of complementary solutions enabling larger scale solution offerings

Support marketing materials development such as whitepapers, slicks, trifolds, etc.

Work with the CTO office and develop IT-based solutions consisting of contextual, conceptual, and logical architectures using standards-based, rigorous methodologies and practices

Communicate solutions with, management, and teaming partners, including presentations and white papers

Support development of federal technical delivery methodology based on industry standard methodologies and frameworks

Support the adoption of best practices in the areas of technology integration, cloud computing, managed services, process improvement, technology innovation and implementation

Required Qualifications:

8+ years of architectural solutioning experience in legacy and modern software development lifecycle and services delivery

4+ years developing and/or architecting solutions for federal clients, either for the Department of Defense or Department of Veterans Affairs

3+ years engaging directly in responding to technical Request For Proposals (RFPs)

Experience defining and driving the technical direction of prospective business opportunity proposals and strategic pursuits, developing solutions architectures and providing analysis of alternatives

Demonstrated expertise in driving both the Business and IT strategies to cohesively propel each other at organizational, national, and/or global scale

Proven excellent solution architecture expertise in IT and Cloud Infrastructure and application modernization and migration techniques

Willing or ability to up to 10% travel

United States Citizenship

Ability to obtain favorable adjudication following submission of Department of Defense eQuip Form SF86

Preferred Qualifications:

10+ years of experience in related fields

Proven ability to produce results within a collaborative environment

The salary range for this role is $122,100 to $234,700 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. As a requirement of UnitedHealth Group's contract with the Department of Defense, this position requires U.S. citizenship and proof of favorable adjudication following submission of Department of Defense eQuip Form SF86, (the National Agency Check Legal and Credit or

NACLC ). Successful completion of the NACLC process is a requirement for continued employment in this role. NACLC processing will be initiated by our TRICARE Security Officer post-offer and can take 3-6 months for a final decision communication from the Department of Defense. Candidates will be allowed to begin employment with UnitedHealth Group in this role based on an interim clearance, and final results will be communicated as they are received. Failure to obtain final NACLC approval will result in termination from this role.
