We have a very exciting opportunity for an exceptional business leader to join the Brooklyn Storehouse team, playing a pivotal role in developing and executing the sales strategies, marketing strategies, commercialization and operation of our incredible venue. Reporting to the Board, you will provide regular updates and lead on the venue P+L and other financial performance reports.

To be successful, you will have excellent previous demonstrable experience in a similar role within the events industry, ideally with a strong understanding of both live music events and corporate events. You will need to be commercially focused with strong operational acumen and exceptional leadership skills to cultivate and foster effective relationships with external stakeholders and the venue's growing team. You will be extremely organized, with a real ability to get things done, and a strong determination and understanding of how to drive the business forward. This will require strategically collaborating with the various teams to maximize profitability and venue utilization.

As General Manager for our large-scale venue, you will need to curate the 'big picture' vision and be responsible for ensuring the venue delivers it commercial targets across music and corporate events whilst keeping all overheads to budget. You will need to have full oversight of industry legislation, general event licensing and documentation required for events.Accountable and Responsible for:

FinanceManagement of overall venue Profit and Loss (P&L), forecasting, and reconciliation, ensuring the venue hits all commercial targets in line with the businesses policies, procedures and metrics.Working with the accounts team to reconcile the spaces’ P&Ls month to month.Overall responsibility for debt management.Ensuring music and corporate events are within budget.Ensuring all overhead and venue spend lines are to budget.Implementing commercial best practices to maximize yield.Collaborating with the central finance team to efficiently manage project P&Ls.Securing the best possible rates from suppliers.Providing necessary reporting to Board of Directors and other departments as requested.Calendar ManagementCollaborating with the music booking team and corporate event sales team to maximize profitability and venue utilization.Ensuring the Event Works calendar is maintained and updated daily.Ensuring weekly/monthly cross department meetings happen in order to ensure calendar accuracy.SalesResponsibility for leading the team in defining and delivering successful sales strategies which includes:competitor analysisidentifying new events, opportunities, and marketsdata segmentationbusiness development and proactive salesrelationship managementmarketing initiativesThis will also include actively selling the venue to corporate, brand and other third party hires.Responsibility for ensuring all sales targets are achieved and KPIs are constantly monitored based on metrics adopted across the business.Responsible for the highest standards of sales operations across all spaces.Managing diary efficiently to optimize sales activities and yield.Identifying new events, opportunities, and markets for business growth.Maintaining accurate data records for sales tracking and analysis.Driving business development through proactive sales efforts, key KPIs for the role will focus on database and relationship growth.Producing packages and sales collateral for corporate, brand and other third party hiresManagement of third party listing sites and agency partnerships, driving these relationships to ensure strong ROI.Fostering strong relationships with clients to enhance customer retention.Implementing marketing initiatives to support sales objectives.Ensuring achievement of all sales targets and monitor KPIs regularly.Collaborating with the Venue Operations and Sales Manager to develop proactive sales strategies.Conducting site visits with clients, providing detailed explanations of venue options and logistics.MarketingCollaborating with the Venue Operations and Sales Manager and central Marketing team to develop data and evidence-based marketing strategies.Ensuring timely delivery of marketing strategies and achievement of targets, with continuous monitoring of KPIs based on adopted metrics.Upholding the highest standards of marketing operations for the venue.Acting as a brand guardian and contributing to brand growth across the venue, in alignment with the central Marketing team objectives.OperationsWorking with the team to ensure compliance with group policies, procedures and metrics across the venue.Defining and streamlining operational policies and processes and their execution by ensuring best practice throughout the venue and supporting colleagues who might need guidance.Being the data guardian and quality controller for the venue.Educating your team in operations when required, ensuring they fully understand the expected standards and their role in delivering them.Full understanding of all applicable legislation and permitting including but not limited to TPAs, Liquor Licencing, Health & Safety, etc.Property ManagementLeading facilities management within the division, ensuring delivery of targets and expectations ensuring focus stays on establishing the highest standard processes and execution to ensure profit maximization through cost control, optimal performance and other portfolio wide initiatives.Adhering to the venue leases / management agreement, legal documentation, Health and Safety Documents, JV contracts and nuances.External Stakeholder ManagementFostering and maintaining a positive relationship with the Brooklyn Navy Yard board.Proactively addressing any complaints and concerns from the local community.Managing relationships with various external stakeholders, including other local businesses and organizations within the Brooklyn Navy Yard, NYPD, and NYFD.Creating and implementing effective local engagement strategies.LegalEnsuring timely application and approval of all event (TPA) and liquor (SPA) permits before each event.Ensuring the Space meets its planning, licensing, and other statutory obligations.Adhering to property leases, management agreements, legal documentation, Health and Safety documents, JV contracts, and any associated nuances.Ensuring all relevant insurance policies are kept up to date.TeamCultivating a work environment that reflects the company values and principles.Overseeing the recruitment process for key internal positions.Identify training needs and facilitate team development.Risk Analysis & MitigationIdentifying key risks to business and venue operations.Implementing strategies and actions to mitigate these risks, and reporting to the Board of Directors where necessary.You’ll need to have:

Minimum of 5 years of large-scale venue and event management experience, ideally in a music/entertainment events venue or portfolio.Strong leadership and management skills; the ability to lead a team and make decisions whilst under pressure is key to this role.Exceptional knowledge of US industry legislations, general event licensing and documentation required for events.Strong communication skills, providing a consistent message to all business leaders and team members in order to deliver objectives and focuses, as well as motivating and improving performance.Ability to keep calm, work under pressure and problem solve quickly.Experience of producing, managing and delivering a venue budget, P+Ls and financial reports in conjunction with finance teams.Exceptional organizational and planning skills.Confidence in briefing developers, contractors and suppliers.An excellent understanding of US compliance, legislation and codes of practice.A good level of competency using Microsoft and Google Drive software, particularly Word, Outlook and Excel.Self-motivation in addition to a positive and ‘can-do’ attitude in order to achieve tasks efficiently and to deadlines.Great understanding and knowledge of the local event and venue industry.Work Hours:
