About the Role:
As a Senior Paralegal, you are a key member of the Employment and Litigation legal team. You will play a critical role in supporting a wide variety of employment litigation and investigations. This position provides a broad range of paralegal support, including the ability to benchmark, communicate conclusions, and conduct research on legal issues. This role requires excellent communication to interact confidently with all levels of leadership globally and have strong self-management skills. This position may support other areas within the legal function as needed.
How you will make an impact:
Labor and Employment Law Support
Assist with the preparation and management of employment-related legal matters, including employee relations, wage and hour and pay equity audits, investigations, and litigation support.
Collaborate on the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to labor and employment law compliance.
Create and maintain employment-related documents (e.g., offer letters, employment agreements, and separation agreements) and ensure version control, accurate records and revision approvals.
Review internal investigations and analyze them for completeness, providing analysis and feedback.
Draft and revise severance and settlement agreements.
Partner with employment law team on all compliance projects and provide overviews to the business.
Develop and prepare required trainings and work with People Team members to advise on and implement new legislative and regulatory requirements.
Develop and implement innovative ideas and solutions to improve processes and procedures.
Lead the development of guidance tools and platforms to support the global People Org's legal and regulatory needs.
Monitor and analyze changes in employment laws, regulations, and legal developments globally to ensure company policies and procedures remain compliant.
Litigation and Dispute Support (Employment & Commercial)
Provide comprehensive support to internal and external counsel through all stages of claims, litigations and disputes.
Assist with fact-finding efforts by collecting and organizing relevant information for investigations and claims.
Manage a diverse caseload of matters, including internal investigations, employment disputes, commercial litigation and pre-litigation disputes, and regulatory matters.
Draft and prepare litigation documents and templates, including demand letters, declarations, pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and other court filings.
Provide litigation support, including intake of service of process, generation of document preservation notices, and assistance with discovery requests.
Manage litigation discovery process, document review and production for litigation matters.
Responsibilities for matter management including: maintain case files, track and manage deadlines for all litigation and dispute-related tasks, filings and court dates and reporting to cross-functional partners.
Assist with internal investigations and audits on matters relating to claims and litigation.
General Legal Support
Stay informed about developments in employment law, litigation trends, and relevant industry regulations. Share knowledge and best practices with colleagues, including attorneys and other paralegals, to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness. Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development and implementation of best practices within the legal department.
Conduct legal research related to employment and commercial litigation matters, providing summaries and recommendations to attorneys.
Prepare presentations, summaries, training materials, and legal documents for review and use by attorneys, as requested.
Manage responses to subpoenas and administrative agency complaints and investigations.
Maintain team's litigation and dispute tracker, preparing monthly/quarterly matter reporting for leadership.
What we look for:
The ideal candidate must be a confident self-starter who can take on difficult problems, devise solutions, build strong relationships, and prioritize and handle multiple tasks and responsibilities with agility and efficiency.
Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certification preferred or equivalent experience.
6+ years of Paralegal or Legal Specialist experience at a law firm or in-house legal department with at least 3 years of substantive experience in employment law.
Experience with electronic document management and e-discovery tools (e.g. Relativity, Concordance) preferred.
Expertise in formatting legal documents in accordance with court rules, including but not limited to generating tables of contents, citation tables, and “Bluebooking” preferred.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Experience with civil litigation and/or regulatory investigation response procedures, including e-discovery.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong knowledge of legal research methods and tools.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent analytical, problem solving, and project management skills.
Experience effectively and efficiently managing numerous cases and/or projects under time-sensitive deadlines with minimal oversight in a collaborative environment.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team of attorneys, outside counsel and business partners.
Ability to provide strategic input and feedback.
Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
