Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President and Assistant General Counsel, as a Corporate Paralegal to the Corporate Law and Compliance Department in Houston, Texas, you will provide a wide variety of litigation and, as needed, transactional paralegal support for the Company and its six in-house attorneys. The Corporate Law and Compliance Department is responsible for advising and counseling business units, enterprise-wide, on legal and compliance matters to mitigate co's legal risk and regulatory exposure. You will be responsible for assisting the in-house attorneys with various legal activities including litigation matters, electronic discovery, employee investigations, and other contract and business issues.

Key Responsibilities

Electronic Document Review and Analysis: Lead document review assignments in the Department’s in-house electronic platform to assist with internal investigations, litigation matters, subpoena responses, and general dispute projects, including coding documents for relevance, reviewing documents for privilege, preparing timelines of key documents, creating chronologies, and supporting in-house dispute counsel with management of litigation risk.

Management of E-Discovery Tasks: Support eDiscovery Manager with e-discovery tasks, including legal hold process, document collections, and general e-discovery support.

Conduct Legal Research and Draft Documents: Perform legal research using electronic legal information sources and prepare memoranda or legal documents as requested by in-house attorneys for disputes and contract matters.

Maintain Files and Calendars: Maintain litigation and other electronic and paper files for the Department, including updating calendars with matter deadlines.

General Paralegal Support: Assist up to six in-house attorneys with client, case, matter, and project management and complete special projects as needed.

General Administrative Support: Complete variety of other administrative tasks, including submitting reimbursement requests, sorting mail, distributing service of process documents, and backup support to other staff members in the Corporate Law and Compliance Department.
