Senior Naval Weapons Systems Engineer

to join our team in

Oxnard, CA . In this role you will be a key member of a dedicated and mission-oriented team of federal engineers, active-duty Naval Officers and Contract staff who work tirelessly to ensure combat capability of the US and partner Fleets. You will guide a team of some of the best and brightest engineers and scientists our country has to offer who are each contributing to the fielding and testing of missile defense and naval combat capabilities.

Job Description:Serve as Senior Naval Weapons Systems Engineer on our test and evaluation team in support of all evolutions related to the testing of Integrated Combat System (ICS) elements on various ship classes.Provide holistic technical support, planning, and coordination support for Combat Systems Assessments and Training (CSAT), Combat Systems Ship Qualifications and Training (CSSQT), Combat System Operability Test (CSOT), Overall Combat System Operability Test (OCSOT), and other Combat Systems related testing and assessments.Have a broad knowledge of the ship’s ICS interfaces and an in-depth knowledge of the electronic, electro-mechanical and command control interface aspects of the ICS.Provide support to develop and maintain schedule, cost, risk reduction.Provide support for requirement verification through onsite test observation and inspection.Ensure Data management and Configuration Management.Provide technical support by reviewing changes and participating in Working Groups.Provide integration and validation support of mechanical, electrical, and integrated systems.Support all elements of the systems engineering V.Responsible for participating in tests on land-based systems, supporting Combat System Interface Testing (CSIT) and shipboard systems both in port and during underway periods.Support special projects designed to investigate significant existing or potential operational and maintenance problems which impact the effectiveness of the fleet.Prepare and give technical presentations, generate written reports and provide oral presentations to different levels of military and civilian leadership when required.Communicate effectively both written and orally with the program office, shipyards, contractors, etc.Answer/assist in providing technical answers to support data calls and other requests for information.Qualifications:Must have a Masters degree in a STEM field and 10 years of knowledge and experience on elements of US Navy ship combat systems including Aegis Weapon System, Ballistic Missile Defense, Ship's Self Defense Systems, including Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) system, NATO Sea Sparrow Missile System (NSSMS), Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile (ESSM), Common Data Link Management System (CDLMS), Battle Force Tactical Trainer (BFTT), and life cycle support.Must be able to work independently, with a team, or leading a team/task.Must have the ability to apply Engineering rigor to solve engineering/scientific problems.Must have prior experience with Aegis Weapons Systems or experience with Missile Systems Engineering.Must have technical experience in one of the following areas: Fleet operations, systems engineering, missile systems, Aegis qualifications.Desired Qualifications:Knowledge of UNIX based system language, preferred.Troubleshooting of electronic components experience, preferred.Security Requirements:Must have an Active DoD Top Secret Clearance or Interim Top-Secret clearance.Travel Requirements:Position requires travel up to 60%.If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID.Physical Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Must have the ability to travel and work in shipyards and on US Navy Ships in port and underway.Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.The employee is frequently required to walk.Required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.Required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch/crawl and talk/hear.Require moving objects up to 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.Valkyrie strictly adheres to a policy of equal employment opportunity.
