Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software engineering or related field5 plus years of cloud experience (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)5 plus years of experience working with CI tools (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure Pipelines, CircleCI)5 plus years of experience with Python, Ruby, JavaScript/Typescript, Go3 plus years of experience with Container Orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes, Open Shift, Docker)Deep knowledge and use of at least one common programming language: e.g., Python, Ruby, JavaScript/Typescript, Go, including toolchains for documentation, testing, and operations / observabilityExpertise with non-imperative programming paradigmDeep expertise in modern software development tools / ways of working (e.g. git/GitHub, DevOps tools, metrics / monitoring)Cloud experience (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, Kubernetes), including infrastructure-as-codeApplication experience of CI/CD implementations using git and a common CI/CD stack (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, CircleCI, GitLab)Solid understanding of and experience with networking, virtualization, storage, containers, and serverlessExpertise in designing highly available and scalable systems, implementing performance monitoring on those systemsDemonstrated excellence with agile software development environments using tools like Jira and ConfluenceDeep familiarity with the tools, techniques, etc relevant to their specialization area, including engagement with the open source community (and potentially making contributions to such tools)Managing individual and team performanceBudgeting and forecasting, commercial and financial acumenResponsibilities

A Senior DevOps Engineer is a leading technical contributor who can consistently take a loosely defined business or technical requirement, architect and build it to a well-defined specification, and execute on it at a high level.As a Senior DevOps engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our product teams produce reliable, scalable, and efficient infrastructure and applications.You will collaborate closely with development and operations teams to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement.Automate deployment, monitoring, and incident response processes using GCP-native tools and technologies.Develop capabilities which allow Platform Engineering teams in Onyx to operate with a DevOps ethos.Collaborate with development teams to optimize application performance, reliability, and observability on GCP.Implement and enforce Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Error Budgets to ensure a balance between reliability and feature development.Develop and maintain a comprehensive monitoring and alerting platform to detect and resolve issues proactively.Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with security policies and implement necessary controls.Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices in SRE, GCP, and cloud technologies, and contribute to process and infrastructure enhancements.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing culture within the organization.Provides input into the roadmaps of teams representing upstream dependencies to help improve the overall program of work.Implementing change initiatives and leading change.Benefits

The annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges from $0 to $0 taking into account a number of factors including work location, the candidate’s skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role.In addition, this position offers an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role.Available benefits include health care and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), retirement benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave.
