About Team
The Core Services team at Parametric:
Primarily focuses on developing highly resilient and scalable core data services on AWS cloud providing unified API interface across business domains.Team focus is covering all asset classes across Equities, Fixed Income and Derivatives for downstream portfolio management and operations verticals.Leverage NoSql database, Spring Boot, Java, Python, React and AWS native applications such as S3, AWS Lambda, AWS ECS/EKS for Docker container orchestration, Redis (ElastiCache), DynamoDB, RDS etc.Additional area of focus is to build and manage platform event message hub on Confluent Kafka Cloud.
About The Role
The Principal Software Engineer will be primarily responsible for extending and building the core multi-asset Securities and Pricing services that will be source of truth across Parametric. The engineer/team lead will be responsible for design, development, and integration of various new and existing technology solutions that supports various aspects of our investment management processes and work with business and technology stake holders across domains. The set of services will maintain persistent database on the cloud and require sourcing data from wide variety of data sources such as Bloomberg and drive unification of data sources and build API's that would be scalable, resilient, highly available on the cloud expected to provide low latency and high throughput for client applications.
This role will require extensive interaction and communication, requirements gathering across various other teams in the organization and implementation leveraging best in class technologies. The candidate will be well versed in at least 1 high level object orient programming languages, multiyear cloud experience preferably in AWS and 10+ years of work experience in software engineering space and 3+ years of work experience leading a small team. Financial services experience especially in asset management or trading is desired.
Primary Responsibilities
– Provide flexible solutions to complex business problems using our technology best practices
– Design and develop cloud native (AWS) micro-services with primary focus on correctness and performance
– Provide technical leadership directing managing a team of engineers, guiding and mentoring them to achieve their highest potential while collectively advancing the goals and projects of the engineering team.
– Integrate with other services in the ecosystem or public API’s and databases
– Apply best in class engineering principles, optimized algorithms, and data structure techniques
– Create unit/integration/functional tests
– Conduct code reviews of other developers and participate in git merge reviews
– Follow technology trends/tools and recommend improvements to our technology when appropriate
– Research new cloud apps/open-source technologies and incorporate in existing services/API’s
– Mentor and manage other developers

Job QUALIFICATIONS
– Master’s degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineer is preferred
– 10+ years of hands-on Java/OOP development experience with primary focus on backend systems
– 3+ years of experience managing a small team providing direct guidance and project leadership as well as mentorship
– Knowledge of cloud services like AWS/Azure
– Knowledge about orchestration services, Docker and Kubernetes desired
– Experience developing REST/Graphql API horizontally scalable services
– Experience in event-based architectures and messaging platforms like Kafka is desired
– Experience architecting projects integrating across systems
– Understanding of micro-services architecture/containerization
– Proven experience with test driven development
– Familiarity with GIT version control system
– Working experience with agile development
– Familiarity with continuous integration and build tools like Maven or Gradle
– Hands-on experience with RDBMS and/or NoSql databases like DynamoDB/Redis
– Effective communication skills with business users and other developers
– Experience with JavaScript/React development
– Multi-threading programming
– Python and/or C# object oriented development
– Knowledge of distributed systems like Apache Cassandra
– Financial services, especially asset management industry experience is a plus

Salary range for the position: $110,000 - $225,000/Yr. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award.
