The Plant Project Engineer manages and carries out plant-level activities that focus on achieving project completion on time, within budget, and at acceptable levels of safety, quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction. He or she may also provide process and reliability engineering services when called on to do so.Responsibilities:
Manage and execute expense and turnaround projects from initial scoping and funding, through detailed engineering and procurement, to startup and commissioning, and then final documentation and closure.Identify infrastructure and equipment that needs to be repaired, replaced, or improved.Collaborate with colleagues in procurement to prepare packages to contractors and vendors.Ensure that projects stay within budget and alert the plant manager when there are exceptions.Prepare monthly reports on the status of each project and associated KPIs.Define, prepare, and submit purchase requisitions into SAP.Ensure that projects conform to applicable company standards, codes, and industry best practices.Qualifications:A bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering is strongly preferred. Experience may be substituted for the degree requirement as defined below.At least five years of experience in refining, natural resource extraction, or specialty chemical manufacturing is required. Some of this experience should have been acquired in positions such as process engineer, production engineer, project engineer, project manager, maintenance manager, or construction manager.The ability to develop and sell ideas to improve the cost, schedule, and execution of projects is essential for success in this role.Experience preparing specifications, issuing requisitions, evaluating bids, and dealing effectively with vendors is critical.Familiarity with standard industrial construction techniques and applicable OSHA standards is expected.Proficiency in SAP and one or more common project management software tools is required.EOE AA M/F/VET/Disability:All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, protected veteran status, disability, or any other basis protected by federal, state or local laws.
