The Department of Revenue is recruiting for an
IT Compliance Specialist - Information Systems Specialist 7 (ISS7)
position. We are looking for talented, detail-oriented individuals to join our Information Technology Services Division in the Engineering Services Unit. This position is headquartered in our Salem office; however, the successful candidate may be eligible for in-state hybrid work. Hybrid work consists of performing duties onsite in a standard office environment and working remotely.
In order to be considered for Department of Revenue recruitments, you must reside within the state of Oregon. Current Revenue employees who live outside of Oregon may apply and will be considered.
What You Will Be Doing
Below is a sampling of job duties. It is not meant to encompass all duties.
Strategy and Planning
Improve existing compliance programs and processes.
Design and execute audit procedures to assess and measure agency compliance with policies and procedures.
Determine whether an incident violates a privacy principle or legal standard requiring legal action.
Compliance and Audit Assessments
Coordinate compliance testing and monitoring of current and future regulatory obligations, and other regulatory matters as required.
Assist with all the audits, responses and evidence collection associated with the Information Security Program for the agency.
Communication
Develop materials and tools to effectively communicate compliance and corporate requirements.
Collect, analyze, and prepare reports required for senior management, regulators, and other relevant stakeholders.
Document, investigate and report information assurance and compliance issues and incidents, where necessary.
Support and Administration
Provide daily administrative duties for selected information assurance applications and technologies.
Coordinate, classify, inventory and manage the lifecycle of agency data and apply appropriate restrictions.
Participate in and may initiate investigations of employee misconduct and/or possible information security breaches.

This Is What You Need to Qualify
(a) Six (6) years of information systems experience in: Cybersecurity, Information Technology policy or compliance,
OR
(b) An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND four (4) years of information systems experience in: Cybersecurity, Information Technology policy or compliance,
OR
(c) A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND two (2) years of information systems experience in: Cybersecurity, Information Technology policy or compliance,
OR
(d) A Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.
The ideal candidate will possess the following desired skills and attributes:
Required Skills
Ability to interpret federal and state laws and policies and apply them to complex IT security situations.
High attention to detail with exceptional organizational, planning, and analytical skills.
Effective time management skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to address issues with tact, integrity, and professionalism while maintaining confidentiality.
Desired Skills
Familiarity with IRS Publication 1075 and Oregon Consumer Information Protection Act.
Knowledge of system log monitoring processes and practices.
Experience with data labeling and classification.
Extensive experience drafting technical policies and procedures.
