Data Engineer
to assist in areas of data extraction, transformation, and load (ETL), data mapping, analytical support, operational support, database support, application development, and associated maintenance of data lakes and production systems.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop new processes to ETL dataAssist with identifying, classifying, and verifying incoming dataset typesEnhance existing processes used to ETL dataDevelop new software ETL tools to support data ingestion into the Sponsor’s Data LakeMaintain existing and new ETL code baselinesSupport the Ingestion and ETL teamDevelop and enhance Ingestion and ETL process toolsDevelop and enhance utilities for the Ingestion and ETL processDevelop code and scripts using Java, JavaScript, Bash, Python, and ScalaCorrect production data at the request of the Data Governance Team and other usersCode scripts and software modules on an as-needed basis to efficiently triage and convert datasets that arrive in non-standard formats to fit a de-normalized row and column data modelInitiate and monitor processes for consolidating, moving, and validating data between Sponsor systems using Linux, Spark, Yarn, and other processes
Required Skills5+ years of data engineering experienceExperience utilizing big data technologies such as NiFi, SPARK, Jupyter, or PYSPARKExperience extracting, transforming, and loading data from disparate structured data formats into enriched, query-friendly structured data in indexed filesExperience performing data quality analysisExperience with SQL and stored procedure languages such as PL/SQLExperience with Regular Expressions (Regex)Experience with Linux operating systemsExperience programming using languages such as Python or PySparkExperience with AWS S3Experience working with data in foreign language (non-English) scripts such as UnicodeUS citizenship with an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required
Desired SkillsDemonstrated experience working with large-volume dataDemonstrated experience working with data sensitivity and handling restrictionsBA/BS Degree
