Fleet Sustainment , a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. For 40 years, the U.S. Navy has entrusted HII to maintain and modernize the vast majority of its fleet. From small watercraft to submarines, combatants and aircraft carriers, our systems and maintenance experts help the Navy maintain a high state of readiness.We are seeking an experienced Engineer Systems 2 to join our Engineering & Design Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of complex systems. The Engineer Systems 2 will work closely with other engineers, project managers, and customers to ensure that all projects are completed on time and within budget.What You Will Do

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.What You Must Have

2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.Candidate must have knowledge of systems engineering principles and practices.Candidate must have experience working on ships.Candidate must have strong proficiency in 2D & 3D AutoCAD.Candidate must have experience with system analysis and requirements development.Candidate must have knowledge of multiple disciplines including piping, HVAC, structure, and electrical systems.Candidate must have experience with system integration and testing.Candidate must have the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.Candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Candidate must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Candidate must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.Candidate must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.Bonus Points For Having!

Openness to travel as required.Familiarity with IDEA CAD Standards.Prior experience working with NNS, NNSY, Ingalls, and PSNS Shipyards.Physical Requirements

Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
