Fleet Sustainment , a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. For 40 years, the U.S. Navy has entrusted HII to maintain and modernize the vast majority of its fleet.What You Will Do

Designs major components or major portions of a functional system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal.Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development.Makes layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures.Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers.What You Must Have

2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; or 0 years experience with Masters in related field.Candidate must have experience working on ships.Candidate must have strong proficiency in 2D & 3D AutoCAD.Candidate must have experience with testing and analysis of products and systems.Candidate must have excellent communication and collaboration skills.Candidate must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.Candidate must have strong problem-solving skills.Candidate must have knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.Candidate must have the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.Candidate must have familiarity with shipboard systems, equipment, and safety protocols.Candidate must have proven ability to work effectively in challenging and dynamic environments.Bonus Points For Having!

Openness to travel as required.Familiarity with IDEA CAD Standards.Prior experience working with NNS, NNSY, Ingalls, and PSNS Shipyards.Proficiency in using FEMAP software to create and analyze finite element models, perform simulations, and generate reports.Knowledge and experience using Nastran software for finite element analysis, including model creation, simulation, and post-processing.Experience using Autodesk Inventor software for 3D modeling, assembly design, and engineering documentation.Proficiency in using SolidWorks software for 3D modeling, simulation, and design analysis, as well as creating technical drawings and documentation.Physical Requirements

Office, industrial or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances during site surveys. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift.
