This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Commercial Consultant for our Virginia Beach office. Be involved in projects with our Project Controls & Technology Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

Assist the Program Commercial Lead (PCL) /Program Controls Manager (PCM) in creating, implementing and executing project controls plans and cost management plans to support contract requirements and the successful execution of project controls supporting project and WSP commercial interests.

Assist the project controls team, covering estimating, quantity take-offs, cost management, risk management and change management

Ensure compliance to Contractual requirements and fulfilment of all Contractual deliverables.

Assist in reviewing and preparing monthly Interim Payment Certificates and ensure timeous invoicing.

Actively participate in mitigating potential claims and variation orders and where they do arise, prepare detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis to be presented to the approving entity.

Assist the PCM to resolve issues and provide consistency between the estimating, planning/scheduling, cost control, and scope/change control functions and deliverables.

Interact with project controls, accounting, and scheduling staff from other agencies and firms.

Assist the PCM to develop or refine Project Financial Plans for submittal to funding agencies consistent with the project's needs and industry best practices.

Develop and prepare project control reports with corrective action plans when required.

Assist in the development of project controls dashboards and reporting methods.

Develop and maintain a Project Earned Value Management System (EVMS) database, to measure progress and calculate performance metrics, analyze and report variances to plan based on predetermined variance thresholds.

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

BA/BS Business, Finance, or Accounting, Engineering

Project Management experience, PMP preferred

7-10 years of experience in Financial Controls, Finance, or Accounting, and Scheduling

Transportation, Highway and Construction industry preferred

Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills

Confident self-starter with the ability to operate in a dynamic environment.

Attention to detail and organization while working in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and produce project deliverables.

Ability to build and sustain relationships with team members, contractors, and clients.

Skilled at building and sustaining relationships with all stakeholders.

Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to prioritize workload and deliverables.

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint, Adobe Design and Publisher.

Proficient in e-Builder Construction Management Software Preferred.
