Our Human Resources Department is seeking an experienced and team-oriented Compensation Specialist to ensure our incredible grow ing workforce is paid equitably . This position administers and maintains the city's compensation and classification plans to ensure compliance with federal and state laws as well as organizational policies.
Works under general supervision of the Total Rewards Senior Manager.
May become eligible to work hybrid 2 days per week after the training period.

Essential Functions
Supports daily administration of compensation and classification plans. Conducts and coordinates the intake, review, research and approval of requests to process employee and position changes. Monitors and addresses routine inquiries. Provides information and assistance to employees and managers regarding compensation policies and procedures.
Assists in writing and updating job descriptions, and conducting job evaluations to determine appropriate salary grades. Maintains job code tables and position control numbers. Operates and maintains applications related to compensation and job classification. Ensures data integrity and accuracy.
Assists with research and analysis for budget build cycles. Participates in compensation surveys and assists with market matching for job classifications. Contributes organizational data and assists in analyzing the results of compensation surveys.
Supports annual salary administration programs by creating and maintaining salary structures and managing budgets for recognition and base salary increases. Assists with annual performance and incentive pay programs. Tracks incentive pay and notifies relevant parties of any outstanding payments needed.
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Bachelor's degree in human resource management, statistics, organizational development or a related field and
2 years of experience in financial or human resource analysis, salary planning and classification, or
an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Knowledge of:
principles and practices of human resource administration and employee relations;
public administration record keeping and reporting practices; and
computer usage including related software.
Ability to:
work in a team environment to achieve organizational goals
research and interpret data
draw sound conclusions and make recommendations
establish priorities and organize workload
plan, coordinate and implement special projects
exercise independent judgment and initiative within established guidelines
maintain strict confidentiality
exercise tact and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive, complex and confidential information
communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance
and perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Any of the following professional certifications:
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)
Senior Professional in Human Resources (SHRM-SPC or SPHR) certification
Professional in Human Resources (SHRM-CP or PHR) certification

City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation
