UH Lakewood Medical Center
is located between Kansas City and Lee’s Summit, Missouri, offering residents of Eastern Jackson County access to a modern community hospital with a continuum of outpatient services designed to meet the needs of families. UH Lakewood specializes in high-risk maternal and child care, and serves as one of the few Kansas City metro area institutions accredited by The Joint Commission in Orthopedics and Palliative Care. It also is home to a 188-bed, fully accredited long-term care center.

is the KC metro area’s largest, most comprehensive provider of mental health services. The
Crossroads Building
, located in Kansas City’s vibrant Crossroads Arts District, is its epicenter, providing a broad list of outpatient services. We also offer psychiatric inpatient care, and we deliver therapeutic services through our community outreach clinics. We are a leader in the Trauma-Informed Care Movement, and provide training, coaching and consulting to outside organizations.
Job Description
The Corporate Patient Access Manager ensures operational excellence and consistency across the organization. This leadership role provides strategic direction to supervisors in Acute Care Patient Access Departments at all UH locations. The manager is responsible for the development, design, administration, and management of comprehensive training programs for new hires and ongoing staff development. Drives change management initiatives to enhance departmental performance and act as a subject matter expert and liaison between supervisory staff and senior leadership. The manager oversees the quality assurance program, including auditing, and monitors Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as quality, customer service, point-of-service collections, and productivity. Identifies and implements process improvements to ensure the highest quality standards and reduce error rates. With a focus on business processes, seeks opportunities for system or automation-driven efficiencies. The manager collaborates with leadership in acute care Patient Access and clinical areas to enhance departmental results and research emerging best practices.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience.
Prior supervisory experience within a healthcare setting.
Two years’ experience as a Patient Access Coordinator or experience within the process improvement field.
Demonstrated ability to manage, develop and supervisor others
Experience with change management and facilitation Experience with Microsoft Office products
Excellent presentation skills with solid communication capabilities, both oral and written
Good project management skills
Strong interpersonal capabilities and ability to work cross-functionally with other leaders on sensitive and/or emotional issues.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
High level of attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
Familiar with Lean Six Sigma methodology.
