A large system in Nebraska/Iowa is looking for PCU RNs.36 hours guaranteed.1 year of unit experience.Job Requirements
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications required.Schedule Information
Shifts are 0630-1900, 1830-0700.Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:4-5.Every other weekend required.Holiday requirements: As needed to meet unit needs.Can float to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care.Navy Blue scrub color/dress code.First week classroom then 2-12 hour shifts on the floor.Busy patient flow- admitting and discharging within the same 6 hour time frame while also completing shift change.Strong sense of teamwork, friendly, positive can-do attitude, engagement in positive patient experience with commitment to bedside report and hourly rounding.Unit Specific Information
# of Beds: 33.Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: CNAs 1:10 ratio- available CNAs fluctuates based on unit census.Shifts & Scheduling: Unit schedulers will make travelers schedule.Additional Details
- Department: Stepdown- Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Young adults through geriatrics, sepsis, STEMI, CHF, chest pain, COVID, stroke, renal failure, COPD, DKA, patients with complex medical issues including multisystem failure.- RNs are required to titrate drips.- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, IV antibiotics, Insulin; maintenance doses of IV meds (non-titratable).- There is a Charge Nurse on each shift, and the charge nurse may take an assignment.- Nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit: CNAs have a 1:10 ratio; the availability of CNAs fluctuates based on unit census.- RT Equipment: BiPAP, Airvo.- Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit: Yes, RNs must read and interpret.
