What you'll be doing

As a member of CIBC’s team, the Business Analyst, Business Effectiveness is responsible for contributing to projects that impact the business through in-depth research analysis, interpretation, documentation, and advice on moderately complex business information. The role applies subject matter expertise to consult with the business on process improvements, leading the technical development to deliver high quality processes and procedures while ensuring compliance with CIBC requirements standards, work practices, processes, security standards and policies. The role participates in risk management and cost optimization projects, supporting the execution of a satisfactory risk plan that incorporates successful audit, and continuous audit and monitoring. Develop comprehensive response playbooks for various scenarios including incidents, operational disruptions etc.

Conduct thorough research and analysis to identify potential risks, vulnerabilities and opportunities for improvement in current response strategies

Collaborate with LOBs, communications teams and Operations to gather input and ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives

Provide training and guidance to stakeholders on implementation and execution of the playbooks

Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies and evolving threats to enhance playbooks and maintain competitive edge

How you'll succeed

Understanding and Documenting Requirements

- Work closely with business partners to gather complex business requirements and facilitate solution design discussions to ensure you meet project needs. Build strong relationships, lead discussions, listen and ask the right questions to ensure solutions meet requirements.

Solution Design

- Build client-focused solutions that meet business requirements. Prepare and validate solution design documents around areas such as scope clarification, solution requirements, and quality assurance.

Leading and Mentoring

– Support end-to-end project implementation as a subject matter expert, and provide guidance to a diverse team of technology and project professionals. Maintain a collaborative work environment and support team members to resolve organizational, operational, and process problems..

Organization

- Oversee requests from various stakeholders and thoughtfully create and/or edit a wide variety of presentation and communication materials (e.g. key messages, communication plans, tactical deliverables, presentations etc.)

Communication

- Superior interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to convey or present factual and conceptual information on issues which require detailed explanation and interpretation.

Production Support

- Conduct investigation and provide resolution (with help of developers when needed) for issues brought up by business

Who you are

You have a degree/diploma in

Computer Science, Business, and/or a related field, and you’ve spent at least 3 years in a BSC role leading projects and designing solutions. It’s an asset if you have experience with Agile methodologies, and Application and/or Architecture Development.

You have knowledge of

financial markets including Stock, Option, Fixed Income and Mutual Funds.

You have working knowledge of

financial product concepts and calculations (bond amortization, accrued income, expected income, yields).

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $100,000 - $135,000

for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
