Overview
The Procurement Manager - Transportation provides support to design and implement cost savings projects across the transportation/logistics procurement category. Performs spend and market analysis to identify opportunities, creates sourcing events, and negotiates and implements contracts. Develops relationships with cross functional including supporting various business requirements. Works across departments to drive value and provide strategic support while ensuring adherence to procurement process and compliance to policies across the enterprise.
A Day In The Life:
Sourcing:
Create and run Sourcing Events across the transportation/logistics category by executing RFIs, RFPs, and negotiation initiatives in an effort to drive value and deliver measurable savings to the organization by utilizing the appropriate support tools (e.g. Jaggaer) and reverse auctions
Analyze bid submissions and develop scenarios that optimize cost, while also taking into account the constraints and needs of business stakeholders and Burlington’s operations
Manage cross functional sourcing teams / Interact cross-functionally with all other departments (legal, finance, transportation, IT, etc.) and serve as an effective and value-added service for the organization
Perform contract negotiations, negotiate key terms, assist in the development of service level requirements, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other performance metrics
Support stakeholder / vendor related initiatives as needed
Assist the transportation/logistics operations team with spot market capacity and negotiation of rates
Identify new carriers with a robust portfolio, sound financial performance, and best-in-class industry experience to improve cost savings and supplier performance
Promote continuous improvement/cost reductions on a regular and proactive basis
Contract Management:
Facilitate the post-sourcing contract review and execution process through the contract management tool
Maintain current status of contracts related to assigned projects as required within the contract management tool on a continuous basis
Supplier Management:
Create and maintain scorecards for “suppliers’” (aka carriers, brokers, NVOCCS, vendors, providers, etc.) performance relative to contracted service levels and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Assist operations in set up and facilitation of carrier QBRs
Maintain regular contact with current suppliers and resolve ongoing issues as needed
General:
Assist with other Procurement or Supply Chain projects
You'll Come With:
Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, MBA a plus
C.P.M., C.P.P or C.P.P.C. Certification a plus
1-3 years procurement experience in a multi-site environment supporting multiple business units
Diversified background with exposure to Supply Chain Operations, Project Management, Supplier Relationship Management, contract negotiations, and/or strategic sourcing
Good understanding of procurement trends and best practices (i.e. reverse auctions, e-sourcing, etc.)
Proficient in Excel and all Office applications
Strong negotiation skills and knowledge of the sourcing process
Experience with esourcing business tools: Coupa and Ariba
Good understanding of legal terms related to purchasing contracts and framework agreements
Strong command of vendor performance management and vendor metrics measurement
A general understanding of the contract execution and administration process
Experience with developing and implementing successful cost saving initiatives
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with keen understanding of relevant cost drivers
Demonstrated ability to work well with teams in achieving goals
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Flexible and responsive to change
Procurement systems knowledge is a plus
