Part Time Day Custodian7:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.$14.50/hour
JOB GOAL:The custodian will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the school premises during the day. This role is vital in ensuring a clean and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors, while also providing friendly customer service to all school community members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent.Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Basic knowledge of cleaning supplies and equipment.Physical ability to perform tasks that require lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.Excellent customer service and communication skills.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Cleaning and Maintenance:
Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in classrooms, hallways, offices, and other school areas.Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and mirrors.Empty and dispose of trash and recycling bins.Clean windows, doors, and other glass surfaces.Dust and wipe down furniture, fixtures, and equipment.Respond to radio calls effectively and efficientlySafety and Security:
Monitor and report any maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate personnel.Ensure all entrances, exits, and hallways are free from obstructions and hazards.Assist with emergency clean-up tasks as needed.Performs routine ground maintenance functions.Sweeps concrete surfaces adjacent to the school buildings. Removes snow from same as directed.Support Services:
Set up and take down furniture and equipment for school events and activities.Assist in receiving and distributing deliveries and supplies.Respond to specific cleaning requests from staff promptly.Customer Service:
Interact courteously and professionally with students, staff, and visitors.Provide assistance and information as needed to ensure a positive experience for all.Address and resolve any concerns or issues promptly and effectively.Performs other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
CLASSIFICATION: This position is classified as a (part time) position and is subject to the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the Board of School Trustees.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions.
Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 30 to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.This type of work may involve ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps to a height of 40 feet, and will involve walking or standing for extended periods.Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate light equipment and use hand tools, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced.
