The Position:
As the Senior Lead Manager of Product Portfolio, you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic management and development of our workforce excellence product portfolio. This role requires a seasoned professional with a strong blend of leadership, strategic vision, and operational expertise to drive growth, profitability, and innovation across our product lines.
Location: Houston, TX
Travel/Territory: 25% +
Ideal Candidate Experience:
Proven experience (typically 10+ years) in product management, portfolio management, or related roles, with significant experience in leadership positions.
Background in industrial workforce competency (rescale, upscale, faster onboarding, etc. of the worker)
Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate market trends and customer insights into actionable portfolio strategies.
Demonstrated success in managing complex product portfolios, driving growth, and delivering financial results.
Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Proficiency in product lifecycle management (PLM) tools, financial analysis, and portfolio optimization strategies.
Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and driving collaboration across multiple departments
Key Responsibilites:
Portfolio Strategy Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive product portfolio strategy aligned with the company's business objectives and market opportunities. Conduct market analysis, competitive assessments, and customer segmentation to identify portfolio gaps, opportunities, and trends. Define and prioritize portfolio investments based on strategic fit, market potential, and financial viability.
Lifecycle Management: Manage the entire product lifecycle from ideation through to end-of-life decisions, ensuring alignment with market needs and company goals. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, marketing, sales, and finance to define product roadmaps and ensure timely execution of portfolio initiatives. Drive product innovation, differentiation, and continuous improvement efforts to maintain competitive advantage.
Financial and Business Performance: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the product portfolio, including revenue growth, profitability, market share, and return on investment (ROI). Conduct financial analysis, forecasting, and budget management to optimize portfolio performance and resource allocation. Make data-driven decisions and recommendations for resource allocation, portfolio prioritization, and investment strategies.
Stakeholder Management: Act as a strategic advisor to executive leadership and senior management on portfolio strategy, performance, and market trends. Present portfolio strategies, business cases, and performance updates to key stakeholders, including board of directors and investors. Foster strong relationships and collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners to drive portfolio success.
Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor a team of product managers and portfolio analysts, providing guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities. Cultivate a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration within the product portfolio management team. Foster a high-performance team environment focused on achieving business goals and delivering exceptional results.
YOU MUST HAVE:
Minimum of 10 years of expertise in managing a portfolio of products, projects, and investments.
5+ years experience in the process industries
Proven track record in portfolio performance management and lifecycle management.
Strong understanding of Master Data Management.
