Overview:As a Database Administrator, you will deliver essential support for databases across various hardware and software platforms, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide on-site support for IBM DB2 mainframe z/OS environments.Assist multiple IBM application teams utilizing DB2 z/OS databases.Monitor system performance, gather statistical data, and create capacity reports.Analyze statistics to recommend enhancements for capacity and system performance.Respond to automated alerts and monitor system status.Troubleshoot software, operating system, and database issues, including installation and configuration problems.Manage software installations, configurations, upgrades, and patching.Oversee database maintenance, upgrades, and patching.Ensure regular system and database backups.Execute manual switches to redundant systems during failures.Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for production support.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.6+ years of relevant experience, particularly with IBM Utilities and Commands.Proven expertise in technical support, database administration, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.Strong SQL knowledge and tuning skills.Familiarity with IBM Data Studio, Broadcom/CA tools, and TMON monitoring.Understanding of Help Desk tools and ticketing processes.Knowledge of support agreements and service levels.Exceptional technical documentation and communication skills.Ability to convey complex technical information clearly.Strong collaborative skills across various disciplines.Independent worker with a team-oriented mindset.Mentorship capabilities and a results-driven approach.Sound judgment in high-pressure situations.Preferred knowledge of mainframe database products such as CA DB2, TMON, and Data Studio.
