Senior Real Estate Litigation Paralegal Job Description
Position Summary:
The Senior Real Estate Litigation Paralegal provides high-level support to attorneys in real estate and litigation cases, with a focus on managing complex property disputes, contract issues, zoning matters, and landlord-tenant disagreements. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with extensive experience in real estate litigation processes, superior organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management and Document Preparation
Manage all stages of real estate litigation cases from inception through trial, including case calendaring, document control, and deadlines.Draft, review, and organize legal documents, including pleadings, motions, affidavits, discovery requests, and trial preparation materials.Prepare summaries, chronologies, and briefs for attorney review.
Legal Research and Analysis
Conduct thorough legal research on real estate statutes, regulations, and case law.Compile relevant case information, prepare memos, and summarize legal research findings for attorney use.
Discovery and Trial Preparation
Coordinate the discovery process, including interrogatories, requests for production, subpoenas, and depositions.Assist in preparing exhibits, witness lists, trial binders, and demonstrative evidence for hearings, mediations, and trials.Liaise with court personnel, opposing counsel, experts, and witnesses.
Client Support
Act as a point of contact for clients, keeping them informed of case status and next steps.Collaborate with attorneys and other legal team members to ensure smooth and efficient case progression.Participate in team meetings and strategy sessions, providing input on case planning and management.
File and Data Management
Maintain and organize physical and electronic files, ensuring they are up-to-date and easily accessible.Manage and track deadlines using legal case management software.Prepare and organize closing binders and case summaries post-litigation.
Qualifications:
Education:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or related field. Paralegal certification preferred.Experience:
Minimum of 6-7 years of paralegal experience, with at least 4 years focused on real estate litigation.Knowledge and Skills:
Comprehensive knowledge of real estate law and litigation processes.Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.Proficiency in litigation support software (e.g., Relativity, Concordance) and legal research tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw).Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Working Conditions:
Primarily office-based with some travel for trials, depositions, and client meetings.May require occasional extended hours to meet case deadlines.This role is ideal for an experienced paralegal with a robust understanding of real estate litigation, who can provide comprehensive support to attorneys and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
