Dallas office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks a patent agent (high tech) with experience. The candidate will be responsible for performing highly complex and sensitive client work requiring a high level of professional capability and skill.Responsibilities include:Preparing draft patent applications and draft responses to communications from the USPTO.Assisting attorneys in the delivery of quality legal services to clients in an efficient and cost-effective manner.Preparing draft patent applications incorporating scientific aspects of inventions.Preparing draft responses to communications from U.S. and foreign patent offices regarding factual and other scientific matters.Discussing the scientific aspects of inventions with clients and inventors and providing attorneys with a report on those discussions.Communicating with and acting as a liaison between inventors and the Patent and Trademark Office in connection with all aspects of the patent application process.Evaluating and reporting on the technological aspects of inventions and other scientific matters.Advising attorneys on general and specific technologies and investigating those technologies as needed.Drafting, organizing, analyzing, reviewing, and summarizing documents.Reviewing and analyzing client and other files.Conducting regulatory and factual research.Communicating face-to-face, by e-mail, and by telephone with staff, clients, vendors, and PTO and agency personnel.Coordinating workflow with outside service providers.Organizing and prioritizing numerous tasks and completing them under time constraints in an efficient and cost-effective manner.Identifying and analyzing complex patent issues and problems and implementing solutions.Interacting professionally with clients, lawyers, and employees at all levels while safeguarding confidentiality.Providing direction and guidance to legal support staff on specific issues, as appropriate.Staying abreast of technology trends and making recommendations regarding technology needs.Undertaking continuing education and remaining abreast of current patent prosecution issues and trends, as required to maintain appropriate accreditation in the field.Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.Minimum Requirements:Must preferably be licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Must have a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering. Knowledge of principles, procedures, and standards for drafting a range of complex patent documentation in an area of expertise is essential. Knowledge of current and emerging developments and trends within the area of expertise is essential.
