A distinguished law firm is seeking a highly qualified Patent Prosecution Patent Agent with expertise in Electrical Engineering, Software, or Computer Science to join its Intellectual Property Practice Group. The role involves managing global patent portfolios, with opportunities to work on a national and international client platform. Draft and prosecute patent applications, focusing on software, electrical engineering, and computer science innovations.Manage global IP portfolios and obtain IP rights in the U.S. and internationally.Develop patent prosecution strategies in collaboration with clients.Conduct prior art searches and analyze patentability.Support clients with IP strategy, including patent validity and infringement analysis.Engage in client communications to provide high-quality service and updates on patent processes.Potentially expand into other areas of intellectual property work, based on experience and interest.Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of patent prosecution experience.Background in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field (advanced degrees and prior work experience preferred).Strong knowledge of software, controls, and controller systems.Electro-mechanical equipment experience is a plus.For Houston-based associates, licensure to practice law in Texas or eligibility to obtain licensure promptly.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong analytical abilities.Education
Technical degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.Certifications
Active membership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).State bar licensure in Texas or Georgia, depending on office location (for Associate candidates).Skills
