Position Description:
The Dean of Workforce Development is a full-time administrative faculty position reporting the President. With supervisory responsibility for credential and short-course programs (sometimes referred to as non-credit or continuing education), the Dean directs the assigned programs, courses, instructional spaces, and equipment to fulfill the institution’s mission in service to its students and employers in the region. The Dean serves as a liaison with area business and industry to identify educational and training needs, develop customized training solutions, and oversee credential and short-course programs. Additionally, the Dean may supervise full-time and part-time instructors and staff in the Workforce Development division and is responsible for schedules, training assignments, and daily workload of assigned personnel. The Dean oversees the division’s budgets, strategic planning, and projects, and as an agent of the institution, the Dean represents the College in public functions and with external stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:Plan, coordinate, and deliver student instruction or instructional programming, including curricula, faculty, equipment, and other resources.Supervise assigned instructors and staff.Serve as the administrative point of contact for assigned programs, facilitating input from stakeholders including students, employers, and community members.Develop and manage divisional budgets and strategic plan in collaboration with the President or the Vice President of Finance and Administration.Participate in environmental scanning and the institution’s response to the issues that impact the operation of the College and its mission to serve students.Perform other related duties as assigned by the President.Special AssignmentsMay be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.KSA's/Required Qualifications
A master’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.Previous experience in training, professional development, or workforce development is required.Demonstrated competence in operations, project management, or administration is required.Demonstrated professionalism is writing, communication and collaboration skills is required.Additional Considerations
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, employees, and other College stakeholders is required.Demonstrated higher education experience is preferred.5 years of progressively responsible experience in a business discipline, such as manufacturing, energy, financial services, health care, transportation, or technology.Operation of a State Vehicle Yes Supervises Employees Yes Required TravelSome travel may be required.
