Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The Director of Organizational Development/Assistant to the President for Strategic Initiatives, serves as a key strategic partner to the President, driving institutional excellence through innovative organizational development strategies and assisting with high-impact presidential initiatives. This role is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive programs that enhance employee capabilities, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and align with the college’s mission and strategic goals.
The Executive Director will spearhead an employee development program, provide coordination of the employee recognition programs, and oversee special projects critical to the President’s vision for the institution. This position plays a pivotal role in shaping the college’s future by promoting employee engagement and translating strategic priorities into actionable plans that ultimately drive student achievement and institutional success.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Organizational / Professional Development:
Develop and implement professional development programs for employees including leadership development programsDesign and oversee comprehensive programs to enhance employee capabilities and foster a culture of continuous improvement
Stakeholder Engagement:
Engage with executive leadership, and key stakeholders to ensure alignment of organizational development strategiesBuild collaborative relationships across departments to drive organizational effectiveness
Culture Development:Infuse a strengths-based positive leadership model that helps to nurture and shape a high-performing, vibrant organizational culture.Design strategies to enhance the college culture and promote employee engagement aligned with the college’s valuesLead efforts to enhance a culture of inclusive excellenceInnovation and Best Practices:
Remain current with trends and best practices in organizational development and higher educationIntroduce innovative approaches to enhance organizational effectivenessChampion the use of technology to enhance organizational development, including virtual support and artificial intelligenceStrategic Leadership:
Work closely with the President to develop and implement strategic initiatives aligned with the college’s mission and goalsManage highly visible, complex projects and activities on behalf of the PresidentProvide direction for organizational development strategies and programs

Master’s degree in business, Education, Educational Leadership, Organizational Development, Public Administration, Urban Planning, or similar interdisciplinary field
