A law firm seeks an experienced Immigration Associate Attorney to join its team in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This role focuses on providing legal expertise and support for clients navigating complex immigration matters. The ideal candidate will handle a variety of cases, ranging from family and humanitarian petitions to removal defense while ensuring that legal strategies align with client needs. The position also requires ongoing collaboration with team members and a commitment to delivering successful client outcomes.Duties
Prepare, Submit, and Review Immigration Applications:Draft and file immigration petitions, including family-based and humanitarian applications such as VAWA, U visa, and T visa cases.Manage removal defense cases and submit filings to relevant immigration authorities.Client Representation:Represent clients in hearings before USCIS, EOIR, and BIA.Communicate with clients, ensuring they understand their legal options and case strategies.Collaborate on Legal Strategy:Work closely with team members to develop and execute case strategies tailored to individual client needs.Case Management:Manage case filings, deadlines, and review legal documents, including briefs and cover letters, for submission to USCIS.Legal Research and Analysis:Research unique legal issues, identifying relevant statutes, judicial decisions, and agency regulations.Stay informed about legislative updates that impact immigration law.Maintain Ethical Standards:Comply with all legal and ethical standards, ensuring the protection of client interests and adherence to professional conduct rules.Requirements
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years practicing immigration law.Licensure:
Active bar license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.Experience with Humanitarian Relief:
VAWA, U visa, or T visa experience is highly preferred.Education
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.Certifications
Active bar membership in any U.S. state.Skills
