This position serves our partners at the Minnesota Department of Revenue (DOR). MNIT DOR helps manage the state’s revenue collection systems and administers state tax laws. The team is responsible for powering technology that collects over $30 billion annually.
As a Systems Architect, you will provide architectural vision, planning, and technical leadership; develop system concepts and translate technology and environmental conditions (e.g.; law and regulation) into system and security designs and processes. This position will be responsible for researching emerging technologies in support of systems development efforts and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness, efficiency, and systems flexibility. The position will lead technical planning, design, and oversee implementation of technologies and solutions within on-premise and/or cloud environments. This position will work with all MNIT and business partner teams to ensure industry best practices and compliance with all state and regulatory standards, processes, technologies are followed.
This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:
Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St Paul, Minnesota.

This position requires a minimum of six (6) years of experience in a progressive technical role in systems and network design and development.
Experience must include:
In-depth understanding of the underlying principles of public and private cloud infrastructure and services, and emerging technologies and how they integrate into overall system architecture.
Hands-on experience with cloud and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), or other relevant emerging trends and demonstrated experience in implementing solutions or projects that leverage these technologies.
Proficiency in programming and technical skills in languages and framework as well as using tools and platforms associated with cloud and emerging technologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in addressing challenges related to the integration and application of emerging technologies as well as troubleshooting and resolving issues in complex technology environments.
Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
A Master's degree in Information Technology or a related field substitutes for three years of experience, related Bachelor's degree substitutes for two years, or related Associate's degree substitutes for one year.
Preferred Qualifications
Training or relevant certifications in emerging technologies or related fields, such as certifications in AI/ML, blockchain, or IoT.
Ability to align emerging technologies with business strategy and objectives.
Ability to architect systems that make effective use of data for decision-making.
Willingness and ability to explore, experiment, and quickly adapt to new and evolving technologies.
Experience in creating roadmaps for the adoption of emerging technologies.
Knowledge of securing systems that involve AI, blockchain, IoT, etc.
Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on the latest developments in emerging technologies.
