Senior Interior Designer

One of Houstons premier residential interior design firms, known for their sophisticated blend of antiques and contemporary furnishings, nationally recognized by shelter publications, is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to join their boutique firm. Experience with luxury projects with FF&E budgets $500k plus is a must and ability to take a project from inception through DD, CD and installation also a must.The Senior Designers primary responsibility is to lead teams in executing design projects from concept to completion.
Independently direct and manage 4-6 projects, guiding teams through all project phases.
Provide mentorship and support to junior and intermediate designers.
Lead the production of project collateral to effectively communicate design concepts.
Deliver design sketches, 2D and 3D elevations, presentations, construction documents, detailed specifications, redlines, and other essential documentation per project and construction requirements.
Ensure that project production aligns with design intent and meets client expectations.
Collaborate with architects, consultants, contractors, millworkers, and vendors, providing analytical feedback to support project goals.
Oversee site work, client meetings, construction administration, shop drawing reviews, workroom visits, and installations; travel as required.
Manage project documentation.
Oversee the proposal and procurement process to meet budget projections and deadlines.
Strategize, problem-solve, and negotiate within project production to uphold studio design intent.
Represent and promote the studio brand professionally.
Stay current with industry trends, materials, products, design/art/antique fairs, and trade shows.
Build and maintain relationships with vendors and fabricators; explore new partnerships with makers, designers, dealers, galleries, and distributors.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
8-10 years experience in a senior-level design role within a contemporary residential design firm.
Extensive knowledge of residential interior architecture and industry standards.
Exceptional communication and presentation skillsverbal, written, and graphic.
Strong leadership, technical, and management abilities.
Formal education in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office.
Experience with Studio Designer software or similar platforms.
Ability to independently design and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Proven skills in negotiating contracts for services, consultants, and contractors.
Advanced knowledge of upholstery, custom furnishings, lighting fabrication, drapery, soft goods, and carpet qualities and installation methods.
Established relationships with high-end galleries, suppliers, and industry trades.
Experience sourcing contemporary, custom, vintage, and antique furnishings.
Commitment to collaborative and solution-driven design.
