Electrical Engineer (Quantum and Photonics)

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to join our team developing next-generation quantum and photonic technologies and products. This is a hands-on role designing, developing, and integrating analog and digital circuits and electronics for quantum and photonic devices including atomic EM sensors, atomic clocks, frequency-stable lasers and integrated atomic devices. The ideal candidate will be a fast and eager learner with a drive for perfection and collaborative instinct. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of quantum physics and systems engineering, contributing to groundbreaking technology.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Design, develop, test, and integrate electronic circuits and systems for quantum and photonics devices.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including physicists, engineers, and managers, to define technical requirements and specifications.Rapidly design, test, and troubleshoot digital and analog electronics to device performance requirements and specifications.Design and develop low-noise electronics for optical and photonic systems.Perform advanced electronics test and measurement to ensure quality and performance.Design and implement laser and photonics electronics packaging to ensure system integrity and performance.Software programming for integrated system development, interfacing software controls to integrate and optimize electronics and device functionality.Create and maintain detailed documentation of designs, test results, and project progress.Stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical engineering and quantum technologies to drive innovation in product development.Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues during the development and production phases.Qualifications:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.Experience with embedded systems, microprocessors/controllers, FPGAsExperience writing firmware and softwareProven experience in designing and developing electronic circuits and systems, preferably in a prototyping and product development environment.Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design principles.Proficiency in using electronic design automation (EDA) tools.Experience with PCB layout and design, knowledge of signal integrity and EMI/EMC.Hands-on experience in design, testing, and troubleshooting of digital and analog electronics.Software programming (C, Python, Fortran, other) for hardware controls and digital signal processing.Experience with engineering design (SolidWorks) and simulation tools (COMSOL Multiphysics).Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.Experience in designing and developing low-noise electronics.Proficiency in advanced electronics test and measurement techniques.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.US citizens or green card holders may be given priority due to export controls.Other Desired Qualifications:Experience in developing electronics for narrow-linewidth lasers and AMO experiments.Experience in laser and photonics electronics packaging.Experience in RF test and measurement, RF signal communications, RF communications, and Software Defined Radio
