Join our team as a Senior Accounting Analyst, where you'll drive impactful financial insights and lead high-level accounting analysis to support our district's strategic goals. In this role, you'll:

Provide Expert Guidance: Interpret policies, procedures, and contract language on complex accounting and tax issues. You'll be a trusted subject matter expert, guiding and training staff in accounting best practices.Lead & Mentor: Serve as a leader over junior accounting staff, fostering growth and sharing knowledge as a go-to advisor on challenging financial matters.Manage Capital Budgets: Take ownership of compiling and overseeing capital project budgets, ensuring proper use of capital accounting codes and funding sources to maximize financial accuracy and resource allocation.Drive Financial Reporting: Conduct sophisticated financial analyses, prepare journal entries, and produce critical reports in alignment with GASB regulations. Your work will support key audit activities and the preparation of comprehensive annual financial statements.If you're passionate about accounting, inspired by complex financial analysis, and eager to make a difference in a collaborative environment, we'd love to see your application!

Essential Functions

25% - Monitors and approves expenditures from budgets and various capital asset projects and contracts; recommends procedures and/or policies to create a more efficient process to capture data.

20% - Advises campuses and other departments on recording accounting transactions, maintaining fiscal and Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) records; assists in related training for internal and external customers.

15% - Monitor, review, and compile data and contracts related to GASB 87 (Leases) and GASB 96 (SBITAs) in order to prepare annual audit schedules and complete financial reports and note disclosures for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR); maintain proficiency as subject matter expert.

10% - Prepares and reviews budget and accounting journal vouchers and reports pertaining to capital projects, fixed assets, long-term leases and subscription-based information technology agreements (SBITA).

10% - Prepares recommendations and provides various analytical accounting schedules, projections, reports and materials for campuses and departments.

10% - Leads project teams on an ongoing basis and may supervise assigned exempt and nonexempt regular staff.

10% - Assists in developing, evaluating and recommending revisions to accounting and fiscal budget procedures and processes; other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in finance, accounting, auditing or directly related field and four years of experience that includes the application of GAAP theory and practice, experience with tax laws as they apply to accounting transactions and reporting, exposure to governmental accounting and use of computerized accounting systems.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

A. Two (2) or more years of experience in capital asset accounting.

B. Two (2) or more years of experience working in a higher-education environment.

C. Experience using Oracle Financial Management System (FMS).

D. Experience using Microsoft Excel.

E. Two (2) or more years of experience with interpreting and implementing new procedures following pronouncements issued by regulatory agencies; such as, GASB or FASB.

Special Working Conditions

Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License is required; employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving:
