Growing Manufacturer of complex Marine Deck Machinery in the South Seattle (georgetown) area seeks a Purchasing & Inventory Control Manager to oversee all aspects of purchasing for the organization. The company has a proud 100 + year history of providing industry leading machinery solutions for the marine and commercial fishing industry. This is a newly created role in the organization responsible for 10 mill/annual spend, which includes highly engineered components and systems to include motors, drives, gearboxes, etc. Additionally, this person will oversee spare parts procurement, working in tandem with the sales organization. Excellent benefits and a highly collaborative/friendly environment.Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Maintain the integrity of MRP planning parameters (costing, lead times, safety stock etc), using Oracle and NetSuite software.Manage the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.Develop and implement strategies for procuring and storing goods.Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock and minimize waste.Place purchase orders with suppliers for the procurement of production material as required by MRP, production schedule, and aftermarket demandsMonitor status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of all materials, including timely resolution, communication and mitigation of future potential problems.Expedite or defer orders as required based on schedule.Coordinate material flows throughout BOM changes, obsolescence, and the introduction of new suppliers or materials due to new product development.Manage and resolve issues regarding PO to invoice discrepancies, returns, and quality problems with suppliers.Communicate with Suppliers, both via phone and email, to ensure on time delivery and lead time accuracy.Generate and issue reports to key leaders (engineering and sales) to advise of deviations in delivery dates.Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.Timely and precise processing of purchase orders..Requirements:Minimum of 5 years experience in a buyer or purchasing manager function.Experience with NetSuite and/or Oracle preferred.Strong negotiation skills.Ability to work independently and as a team player and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Sound time management skills, strong sense of urgency, and attention to detail.Experience in production and inventory control.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Experience procuring engineered systems for machinery such as Drives, Motors, Gears, etc. preferred.Comfortable interacting with engineering groups; frequently serving as the liaison between external vendors and engineersKnowledge of commonly used procurement concepts, practices, and procedures
