Purpose
The 911 GIS Technician II is responsible for duties associated with the data management and advanced quality control of databases that are used for 911 and public safety. The 911 GIS Technician II assists with management of 911 data on the ArcGIS server and performing analytics on the 911 data to ensure its accuracy and completeness. This position will require the use of GIS as the primary tool for data creation, editing, comparison, maintenance, and quality control. This position will use GIS as a principal method to work with and communicate with other departments and agencies regarding 911 and public safety. This position will support the information vital to 911 emergency dispatching, call taking, 911 location identification, and all other public safety functions. This position requires effective communication with the vested public of St. Johns County.

Requirement
Minimum: High School Diploma or EquivalencyCollege education or GIS/Public Safety/Public Administration related CertificationMinimum of 2 years GIS experience or 911 experienceAdvanced understanding of the concepts behind data management in a relational databaseAdvanced knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS softwareIntermediate knowledge of GIS related Coding languages (Python, SQL, and ESRIs Arcade)Basic knowledge of NENA 911 Data Model StandardsProficient with Microsoft Office and ExcelType 25 WPM accuratelyValid Florida Drivers License
Duties
Perform all duties of a 911 GIS Technician ICreate, update, and manage GIS data on the ArcGIS serverGenerate reports and data deliverables in multiple formats using the advanced concepts of data analysis using ArcGIS mapping software to include ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, Python scripting and ArcGIS OnlineCreate, maintain, and edit applicationsPerform data comparison tasks within multiple related databases within GISUpdate the GIS data for third party software applications with the Sheriff OfficeCreate, maintain, and update GIS dataPerform data comparison tasks within multiple related databases within GISCreate and maintain 911 standards of operations for frequent duties performedPerform quality control on all 911 databases and data for accuracy and completenessIdentify methods to promote information sharing for 911 GIS data and 911 databasesCreate, update, and manage automated processes for data manipulationConduct GIS and 911 related training and instructionCoordinate and assist the Supervisor with administrative paperwork, grant paperwork, and coordination of the unitServe as the acting supervisor in the absence of the supervisorProduce electronic mapping products using GIS and paper maps using a plotter as neededUtilize GIS as a tool to research and troubleshoot data discrepanciesPerforms field verification activities or follow up to problems identified in the field as neededAssemble, organize, and summarize requested information for support staff as neededType/file/retrieve reports, correspondence, forms, and other documentsCreate, update, and follow quality assurance standardsUtilize computers/applicable software/office equipment/printers/plotters/scanners/GPS
