This position requires
at least
two days onsite per week. As a web developer in the Office of University Communications and Marketing you'll be part of the team responsible for planning and executing highly effective and user-friendly websites and digital experiences for academic and administrative units with a focus on marketing initiatives, recruitment, and student experience. The Web Developer builds and maintains fully functional W3C/WCAG AA standards-compliant Web sites and e-newsletters as a member of the Office of University Communications and Marketing Web team. The Developer works collaboratively with Web project managers, content specialists, designers, vendors, and supervisors to build sites and e-newsletters for strategic University initiatives, University schools, departments, and administrative units. Sites are built in Drupal and Wordpress CMS based on design concepts, UX/IA plans and written specifications. Position requires proficiency developing accessible and mobile-friendly sites in popular open source content management systems such as Drupal and Wordpress. This requires the developer to be proficient in building sites using HTML, CSS, MySQL, PHP, LESS/SASS Twig, Javascript SSH Github, and popular CSS frameworks. Developer must accurately translate design mockups into responsive Web constructs optimized for mobile and desktop viewports. The ideal candidate is a passionate developer with three to five years of experience who wants exposure to all aspects of web development, enjoys team collaboration, and is excited by seeing the impact of their work. In addition to technical/analytical skill, the candidate must be a team player able to collaborate and communicate effectively, a highly motivated and determined problem solver, with a proven track record of consistently meeting deadlines. Job Summary
Assists in the design, development, and implementation of software programming applications and determines technical specifications and standards for moderately complex projects. Develops design specifications; codes, tests, troubleshoots, and debugs software applications; and participates in the research and proposal of enhanced software applications. Essential Functions

Create and modify Drupal and WordPress themes based on designs and university branding Implement the back-end of university websites in Drupal and WordPress Complete updates, support, and enhancement tasks for existing client websites Build content integrations with third-party systems Contribute to functional / technical planning Participate in quality assurance activities Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree Three to five years of web development experience, preferably with PHP, Drupal, and/or WordPress Experience implementing large and complex websites within a content management system environment Prior experience in an agency or consulting firm that services clients Experience with responsive web design, front-end build processes, and HTML5 / CSS3 / SASS / JavaScript Solid understanding of best practices and standards for web development, performance, security, accessibility (WCAG 2.2), and organic search engine optimization Proficient with code versioning tools such as Github or Bitbucket Familiar with quality assurance tools and code validation tools Job Requirements:
Must be a good problem solver and someone who is curious and enjoys learning new skills Must be able to communicate effectively with university partners, vendors, and co-workers from a variety of professional disciplines Must be organized and able to manage and track time effectively Must be able to meet deadlines Must be versatile and able to contribute and add value to the team on a variety of tasks Must be able to collaborate and work effectively in a hybrid or remote environment
Physical Effort
Duties are primarily sedentary. Must be able to use a computer at a desk or similar workstation, and travel to on-campus meetings as needed.
