As an Engineering News-Record top 500 design firm, we have also been named a "best firm to work for" and have one of the lowest staff turnover rates in the industry.
Every project our employees deliver directly and positively affects our communities. We are industry-leading experts, and we work hard to encourage a collaborative and team-oriented environment.
A Day in the Life of a Data Analyst Intern at Toole Design
As an Intern, you will not be fetching coffee or sorting mail - we want you here for real, meaningful work. You'll spend 8 to 12 weeks* working with our data science team alongside planners, engineers, and landscape architects on a variety of projects. All internships are paid positions. *Longer employment options may be possible, please reach out to HR@tooledesign.com.
Your work may include analyzing survey data for a city-wide pedestrian plan, analyze crash data for a safety action plan, preparing materials for public meetings, or even helping develop graphics for new bicycle facility design guidance. As a data analyst intern, you will be working on projects that will excite an inquiring mind while creating a positive difference in the world. A typical analysis project may include getting into the weeds of data processing, writing scripts to test and automate workflows, and translate analysis findings for non-technical audience. If you are excited by hands-on problem solving, learning new skills, and improving your technical expertise, this is the position for you.
Toole Design is a truly inter-disciplinary firm, so our planners, data analysts, landscape architects, urban designers and engineers work side-by-side to ensure that our projects are safe for all users, easily constructible, and fit in the community context.
We'll offer you the opportunity to work on a wide range of project types and work products, company-wide trainings on core skills and best practices, and career mentorship from the best in the business. You'll get the opportunity to attend key project meetings and site visits; and grow your skills with coding in Python, SQL and R, and analysis/mapping programs like ArGIS and QGIS. Best of all, you'll get to work with colleagues who love what they do and can't wait to introduce you to the field we care so much about.
We are targeting a salary range of $20 to $30 an hour for this position.
