POSITION SUMMARY:
Targa Resources is seeking a Manager of Property Accounting for their office in Houston, TX
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead a team of up to 4 accountants located in Houston, TX, and Tulsa, OK. Set team priorities and delegate work effectively to maximize productivity and employee developmentManage the Fixed Assets and Regulatory Reporting (FERC and Texas RRC) functionsManage the accounting for finance and operating leasesManage the accounting for Asset Retirement ObligationsIdentify and implement process improvements for company's Fixed Asset accounting and Regulatory Reporting functionsReview and approve all journal entries and monthly account reconciliations for the groupReview assigned joint venture billings and monitor aid in construction arrangements to ensure appropriate accounting treatmentManage joint venture audits, including timely addressing questions and responsesPerform research on various accounting topics, as requested' and provide recommendations to management in a clear and concise mannerCollaborate with the full accounting team and other relevant groups to resolve accounting issues and ensure effective communication with management/impacted groups throughout the processProvide timely, meaningful, and accurate feedback to foster employee developmentMaintain desk procedures and SOX documentation for assigned areasRespond to inquiries from auditors ensuring accuracy and timelinessAssist with any special projects as requestedOther duties as assignedMINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or finance8+ years of public accounting and/or corporate accounting experienceExperience leading and developing team membersExtensive knowledge of GAAP and an understanding of internal controlsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt effectively to new and changing environmentsAbility to think strategically and demonstrate an ability to work independently and in a team environment, including with other departmentsStrong analytical and critical thinking skillsExhibits attention to detail, ownership, and willingness to be hands-onExcellent verbal and written communication with ability to adjust style depending on audienceProficient in Excel to at least an intermediate levelAbility to problem solve and think outside of the boxStrong planning and organization skills; ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlinesRegular and reliable attendance with ability and willingness to work overtime, as required during close and billing cyclesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Public AccountantA thorough knowledge of capital projects, cost capitalization and project accountingExperience with FERC and RRC regulatory reportingExperience preparing FERC cost of service modelsExperience with Oracle Financials Cloud (OFC), PowerPlan, Assent, and OneStreamEnergy sector experience
