Under the direction of the Operations, Compliance, and Administration Section Chief Staff Services Manager (SSM II), the Health Program Specialist (HPS I) functions as a highly skilled technical specialist in areas of policy development, data analysis, and the coordination/facilitation of work projects associated with the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) State Operated Facilities Division (SOFD). The HPS I provides consultation and technical assistance to Regional Resource Development Projects (RRDP) with the deflection, admission, and discharge of consumers into or out of State Operated Facilities (SOFs). The HPS I creates and implements data tracking tools for the purpose of monitoring data to include the completion of trend analyses and reports to inform program and policy decisions that align with the overall operation of SOFD.

This position is eligible to participate in DDS' hybrid telework schedule. Participation in telework is subject to DDS' guidelines.

Department InformationThe California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.

These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers. The regional centers serve as a local resource to help find and access the services and supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
