REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOALS: To assist the principal in fulfilling his / her responsibilities of promoting the educational well being of each student in the school.To relieve the principal of some duties thus providing optimum time for the principal's foremost responsibility of direct supervision of the instructional program of the school.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist principal in providing leadership in all areas related to curriculum, instruction and assessment.
2. Assist staff in maintaining discipline throughout the school and handle all referrals from teachers or bus drivers ,
as assigned by the principal. This can include referring a student to the Board of Education for possible expulsion.
3. Coordinate and supervise bus loading and unloading activities, when assigned by the principal.
4. Supervise custodians and oversee maintenance needs, when assigned by the principal.
5. Assist in supervision of crowd, ticket sellers, concession stand and any other activities at assemblies and athletic events, as assigned.
6. Assume responsibility for a part of the general supervision of the student body, staff and educational program of the school.
7. Hold conferences with parents, teachers and students or any combination thereof when necessary.
8. Stay current on educational changes and developments through reading professional literature and attending professional meetings.
9. Assist in preparation of materials and building, and any other activity related to the opening and closing of the school year.
10. Interpret the county-wide attendance policy for students, teachers and parents.
11. Establish homerooms-place students in homerooms-assign teachers to homerooms, as assigned by principal.
12. Verify attendance information and data.
13. Work to have the best attendance possible by monitoring tardies, early dismissals and absenteeism.
14. Provide information to complete local, state and federal reports
15. Disseminate educational material and information to department heads and other staff members.
16. Assist with orientation of new staff members.
17. Assist substitutes on a daily basis.
18. Assist in the evaluation of school philosophy and curriculum.
19. Serve on district committee as deemed necessary by the principal and/or Superintendent.
20. Assist in developing a positive school atmosphere.
21. Assist Principal in the evaluation of certified and classified staff.
22. Attends department and block team meetings as assigned.
23. Assume responsibility as chief administrator for the school in the absence of the principal, when appointed by the principal.
24. Serve as administrative contact for ESL/LEP program when assigned by principal.
25. Serve as chairperson of the Admission and Release Committee (ARC), when assigned.
26. Adhere to professional code of ethics as established by Education Professional Standards Board.
27. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the principal or Superintendent.
