SUMMARY:
The Accounting & Finance department is seeking a Senior Accountant, who will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy of accounting for our Texas onshore operated properties. The Senior Accountant will accurately record capital and lease operating expenditures, maintain accurate property and inventory records, and ensure compliance with COPAS accounting standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, the ability to recommend accounting process improvements, foster a positive team environment, and be able to communicate monthly accounting results.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process monthly Joint Interest Billing (JIB) invoices, prepare standard monthly JIB entries, monthly capital expenditure accrual entries and lease operating expense accrual entries.Relevant knowledge of COPAS to ensure expenses are properly recorded and allocated to partners in accordance with Joint Operating Agreements (JOA).Analyze partner/JIB receivable accounts to ensure timely and accurate payments.Joint venture (JV) audits including JOA, Accounting Procedure, and COPAS reviews.Inventory accounting.PP&E accounting including rollforward, work-in-process, and in-service reviews.Operations reviews & analytics including LOS reporting, budget vs. actuals and Operations reporting / support.Maintain and enhance internal control processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial information.Prepares balance sheet account reconciliations for assigned accounts on a monthly basis.Special projects as needed.QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of Joint Operating Agreement and COPAS accounting principles.Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills.Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.Ability to work independently and manage monthly deadlines.Intermediate Microsoft Office required (including Excel and Word)EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.Minimum 5 years of experience in oil and gas accounting.Quorum accounting software experience preferred but not required.EnergyLink experience preferred but not required.LANGUAGE SKILLS:
