Medical Doctor is responsible for administration of all medical and professional services provided by the medical program. The incumbent maintains effective lines of communication with the medical, nursing, social work and management staffs and coordinates the development, implementation and the evaluation of standard of patient care.

Responsibilities

Performs medical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment to System patients. Provides direct patient care on a daily basis and provides all necessary medical record documentation including Medicare/Medicaid and third party payers requirements.Works as scheduled and may rotate through System. Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions. Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required. Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.Maintains current standards of acceptable medical practice. Participates in educational programs specific to patient care. Involves patients (and family, when necessary) in the decision making process about treatment. Meets productivity standards.Collaborates with Radiology, Pathology, Surgery, Medical Oncology, and Nursing in the clinical management of patients. Performs all credentialed medical procedures according to standards, including time-out protocols.Respects the rights, privacy and property of others at all times including the confidentiality of information, according to Administrative policies and all applicable laws and regulations. Complies with all applicable JHS policies and procedures, laws and regulations, and accreditation requirements (including HIPPAA and clinical trials protocol).Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.

Experience

Generally requires 5 to 7 years of related experience. Primary Care experience in outpatient/clinic setting preferred.

Education

Doctorate degree in Medicine is required. Any Employee who will be performing Point of Care and testing in the Operating Room, Neuro ICU, NICU, PICU, Pedi-ER, Cath Lab and/or Interventional Radiology areas, the educational degree must be verified at the time of hire.

Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.

Credentials

Valid Florida Medical License and DEA board certification (Family Medicine) are required. Other specialty certifications related to specialty are a plus. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
