Job Description
We are seeking a
Staff Software Engineer
for a key position on Walmart’s Driver Experience group under the Last Mile Delivery initiative. Driver experience is key to the success of the Last Mile platform that powers Walmart’s Grocery, General Merchandize and Same Day Delivery propositions. We deal with driver Payments, miles driven, externalization of Walmart Core delivery services. Last Mile Delivery is expected to grow multiple times over in the next few years. In this role, you will develop highly scalable services to process millions of requests per day and solve complex software engineering problems by leveraging state-of-the-art technology. You will drive projects of high visibility across the organization while leading the work of other small groups of six to ten engineers across geographies.
What you’ll bring:
10+ years of working experience in Native App development.
Examples: Kotlin, Java, MVP + MVVM, RX programming, Understanding of UT framework.
3+ years of working experience in Cloud Components and Architecture.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and ability to articulate complex technical concepts in an approachable way for broad audiences.
Demonstrated high-level design of systems.
Solid experience in large scale distributed systems and event-driven architecture.
Have designed, built, and maintained APIs, services of highly scalable platforms.
Experience with Kafka or other high volume-low latency messaging infrastructure.
Experience with Azure Cloud Stack or other cloud stacks.
Extensive knowledge of open-source libraries, design patterns and micro-service architecture. Familiarity with CI/CD and unit testing.
What you’ll do:
Take the lead on problems related to scale & monetization.
Leverage your experience of designing and building large scale distributed systems, solving problems related to scale and processing huge amounts of data.
Assist in providing guidance to small groups of 3 to 5 engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects.
Provide support to the business by responding to user questions, concerns, and issues; researching and identifying needed solutions; determining implementation designs.
Manage small to large-sized complex projects by reviewing project requirements and translating them into technical solutions.
Troubleshoot business and production issues by gathering information and performing root cause analysis.
Participate in the discovery phase of small to medium-sized projects to come up with high level design.
Demonstrate up-to-date expertise and apply this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans.
Provide and support the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders.
Model compliance with company policies and procedures and support company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Option 2: 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
