Position Summary:
The Purchasing Manager
leads the Company purchasing strategy by overseeing all activities involved in the identification and acquisition of materials and services used at Special-Lite.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Establishes performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of factors affecting the supply chain.
Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments.
Negotiates prices for raw material and delivery with suppliers, vendors, and/or shipping companies.
Creates and executes plans to meet annual cost reduction targets of the company.
Evaluates supplier risks and creates mitigation recommendations - i.e., single sourced materials, long logistics pipeline, financially distressed suppliers, etc.
Leads bi-annual physical inventory count of materials.
Develops and maintains contracts for suppliers.
Analyzes current inventories and procedures; suggests improvements to increase efficiency of supply chain and profitability.
Develops policies to increase efficiency throughout the supply chain while ensuring quality and safety; implements subsequent changes to processes.
Participates on various project teams providing information and guidance on availability and cost of supplies and materials as well as to ensure timely and orderly material and production flow.
Position Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with 5-7 years of Purchasing experience including at least 3 years of supervisory experience.
Excellent communication skills including interpersonal and negotiation skills
Proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, shippers, and customers.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Supplier Dashboard creation.
Inventory management.
Low-cost country purchasing.
Supplier optimization.
Supplier quality.
Primary Physical Requirements:
Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate office equipment, and reach with hands and arms.
Frequently required to talk and hear.
Required to occasionally stand and walk.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Occasionally required to lift, push, pull and/or move up to 15 lbs.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Required Safety Equipment:
Safety glasses are always required on the production floor.
Hearing protection is required in designated areas.
