The Position:

The purchasing specialist will be responsible for the purchasing of designated material groups for our assembly plant. The position coordinates with the Supply Chain Category Manager and Production Scheduler, to ensure purchasing activities associated with releasing and scheduling of materials are in accordance with negotiated terms and conditions as required. This is an onsite position and will require daily work at the Pettibone assembly plant located in Baraga, MI.

Key Performance Areas:

Conducts product/market research and develops new supply sources for assigned categories to optimize quality and/or total cost.Utilizes MRP and manages inventory levels for assigned purchased categories to ensure all requirements are met.Manages, releases, and tracks purchase orders for negotiated and/or contract materials for plant production.Administers purchase order process, including document accuracy, specification compliance, and price verification.Utilizes MRP and is accountable for processing all MRP related POs.Manages and identifies material demand shortfalls and develop and communicate resolution.Manages inbound shipments and delivery dates and expedites purchase orders as required for materials required to meet production schedules.Establishing effective, professional relationships with internal clients as well as vendors and suppliersManages supplier performance levels and establish objectives for targeted improvement.Accountable for correcting supplier related constraints toward the supply plan identified by Production Planner and/or supply chain manager.Accountable for material group-specific Return to Vendor process compliancePartner with Quality and Supply Chain Managers to hold suppliers accountable for on time delivery and quality standards.Other duties as assigned as needed by Supervisor.

Job Requirements

Experience : 1-3 years’ experience in a supply chain or purchasing role;

manufacturing setting preferredEducation : High School Diploma /

4r year College Degree preferredCommunication : Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal communication.Technology : Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and ERP software.Other Requirements :

Working knowledge of ERP systems.Experience with planning, scheduling, inventory management and control, or leanMust have a continuous improvement mind set.Must be a team player and a can-do attitude.Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Able to complete responsibilities in a timely, professional, and quality manner.Inquisitive, with ability to research and make efficient use of resources to achieve effective business results.Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously, ability to transfer lessons learned into new processes, flexibility in job focus.Self-starter with high activity level

Supervisory Responsibility -

This position will have no direct reports.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work -

This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
